"The holiday home is located in Etchu-Yatsuo and offers a lovely view of the rice fields and the Northern Japanese Alps. It is ideal for day trips, for example to Takayama, Kanazawa or the Northern Japanese Alps. The owners live right next door and are extremely hospitable and helpful. The holiday home is lovingly decorated and cozy. Only the shower cubicle built into the kitchen takes a bit of getting used to."

"I never saw an image of the exterior of the building in the advertisement on Expedia. I never read that access to the upper floor was via a steep staircase which made carrying two suitcases to one’s room difficult. The place appears to be managed by the Wat Hotel next door but without access to the Wat’s facilities. The walls between the rooms were such that one could plainly hear conversations next door. The room was fine but the experience frankly disappointing."

""I absolutely loved my stay here! The apartment is brand new, spotless, and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The check-in and check-out process was incredibly smooth. "An amazing experience. I felt like I had been sent back in time to rural Japan. Tatami floors and a historic old world feel. Great price. It is an old home so it can get drafty. There are lots of heaters, but bring warm clothes if you come in a cold season. Perfect location. Literally one block from the historic town center. And it's right next to the morning street market.
