"This is a lovely little spot. If you’re looking for a lot of action you probably wouldn’t like it. If you want a nice quiet place to relax this is the spot. The restaurant is very good and reasonable prices. They were open for dinner only. We found a great spot for lunch about 10 miles away in Beckley- The Dish. Excellent food and service. We chose to come to the area to go to the national park. It’s a little less than an hour away but worth the trip. Enjoy the view of the lake in back."

"Absolutely loved our stay at Mountain Top Retreat! We were there on Aug. 9–11 and decided to stay one more day on our way back—and that was the best decision! We got to enjoy the beautiful night sky, taking in the incredible views while watching meteors streak across the sky. The views truly felt like a million-dollar experience! We also got to experience another breathtaking sunrise. It was the perfect place to unwind, relax, and take a much-needed break from our busy daily schedule—exactly what we needed.Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful place with us. We had an amazing stay and hope to be back again sometime soon!"

"There was only a picnic table in the designated smoking area to sit outside. Pool was nice but ventilation system not on so hard to breath. Free parking and close to restaurants."
New River Gorge Riverview Home in Meadow Creek. 3 bedroom, 1 bath, fenced yard

"Trains, River, and Mountain view with enough room for a five-person family, and updated cold air conditioning and kitchen. The location is nice for deploying by car across the New River Gorge region. In West Virginia fashion, expect 3-7 coal trains a night at the nearby double crossing. Their horns can be startling if you’re a light sleeper. Our kids didn’t mind at all and loved the trains. Even the Amtrak Cardinal line runs through 3x a week at 10:30 am. The owner instantly approved our request and provided good instructions for the stay. We loved the misty mountain view in the mornings from the front porch. It’s about a 100 yard walk to the New River, with boat access. Most of the time the area is very quiet and serene. This was our first trip to the New River Gorge, and I definitely think we’ll be back."
