Gateposts and Huts at Stuartfield POW Camp The old gateposts at the old prisoner of war camp at Stuartfield in Aberdeenshire remain, as do some of the now derelict huts. Stuartfield initially housed Italian POW's, but later interred captured German soldiers, some from the 12th Panzer Division, after they were taken prisoner at Caen in France. Post war saw the camp being used to house displaced persons, from the likes of Bulgaria and Hungary.
