"The property is historic & parts are very old. Some of the rooms are a fair distance from Reception through a very interesting basement “Tunnel”, there are lifts at various points to help when you have luggage, help from staff was available if required.
There are several courtyards to discover each had a small sitting area. The rooftop pool (unheated) & bar has great views & we were able to get loungers both times we used it. The Piano Bar has excellent atmosphere & good cocktails.
Breakfast was good with plentiful options.
Rooms were clean & cleaned daily & included a kettle & tea/coffee making supplies; our 4 rooms (doubles for single occupancy) were very varied in size & elements were tired & in need of refurbishing (jacuzzi bath didn’t work, toilet flush partly broken, decor items broken/worn). Our rooms each had a window into a courtyard but in one the only window was over the top of the door & you could only look out through the small door view flap. It didn’t bother us as we were mostly only in our rooms to siesta/sleep.
All staff were welcoming, friendly & very helpful when asked; all guest facing staff spoke good or reasonable English.
We really enjoyed our stay & left with good memories."
