"We had a very comfortable stay. The room was very clean, the breakfast made to your order with additional cereal and juice available. The staff were very friendly and concerned about our needs. Car parking was provided at the back. The location was within walking distance from the town centre pubs and restaurant as well as next to a big Tesco. Perhaps the TV was a tad small. "

"Very basic but even for the price the rooms were dusty. Cobwebs hanging off the walls. We had two nights due to a local wedding. Asked to move rooms because the mattress was terrible. Was told all the mattresses are the same and getting upgraded in the winter. Changed rooms, slightly better mattress. Even for a cheap night I'd expect no cobwebs / dust and a decent mattress. Won't go again."

"The hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of York and easy to get to. The staff were lovely and were able to accommodate giving us a lower-level room, which was so helpful (especially when pregnant in a heatwave!). There were lots of options available in the mini bar as well as teas, coffees, etc. The room was very comfortable and clean - we will definitely return next time we come to York."

"Authentic and rustic feel. Very conveniently located near to Bootham Bar. Parking included behind the hotel. Room was clean, but small. Breakfast was excellent."

"Esme was very welcoming, informative and helpful. The communal kitchen on the ground floor was a great addition with a fridge to store snacks / drinks and cooking facilities if you want to be self-sufficient. The room was bright, big and clean with a great shower and a comfy bed. The large fan provided helped us stay cool.
