"The room was so clean & spacious! Lots of light from windows & patio that we sat on at night! The room had a seating area & mini kitchen with sink, big refrigerator & microwave. The pool area was nice & even had a private small beach area with dock out to inlet. The hotel is conveniently located close to town. We highly recommend & will go again!"

"I don't know the history of this hotel, but it definitely presents as a renovated old hotel. Dirty throughout the hallways and in our room. Room was moldy smelling and if I had been staying any more than one night I would have asked for a refund and went to a different hotel. The location is great which is why I booked. Just not a great place for allergy sufferers."

Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

"I think they are focused more on look of the front property and entrance rather than the rooms and the amenities for the guest there is no blow dryer or any extras of anything. If you needed towels they made you go down to the front desk for when it cost they should’ve been a little more focused on the guest. My light above sink didn’t work. They didn’t seem to care. The jacuzzi was not turned on. Pool is very nice and clean. However there are no towels for the pool. The ones they had were in the basket for days and didn’t look clean"

"Overall, the stay was fine. The property was clean and the room was sufficient. However, we had a very unpleasant experience with a staff member named Phil, we believe (he would not actually give us his name, we had to ask another staff member). My colleague and I were staying the night in advance of a work event the following day. Everything was proceeding fine until our smoke detector started beeping at 5:30am and giving us a "low battery" message. We called the front desk and were told that someone would come up in 20 minutes. 20 minutes passed and no one arrived. We called again at about 6am and someone (Phil) finally came up. He walked into our room, flipped the massive overhead light on, did not greet us, did not offer an apology, started tinkering with the detector. He had not even brought extra batteries with him, which seemed like an obvious solution. So he had to leave and come back. He switched out the batteries and immediately went to leave. My colleague asked if he would mind staying to make sure the beeping had actually stopped. He said no. He left. The detector started beeping again. My colleage called him back. He came back in twice to try to fix the issue, cursing under his breath the entire time. He never actually fixed the issue, and did not offer an apology or a solution. My colleague went downstairs at one point and asked if we could at least switch rooms. He said no. She asked for a partial refund. He said no. It was all insanely rude."

"Wilmington is a nice little town and The Embassy Suites made our stay having a wonderful experience. I was a little disappointed with the parking lot because it was too expensive, unfortunately there was no where to park near to the hotel ."

Hampton Inn & Suites Southport

"The room my wife and I stayed in was very spacious and yet I don’t think it was for handicap although walkers and wheelchairs could fit in the room nicely. Everyone in the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Our stay was quite comfortable."

"Oceaneer is a great place to spend next to the Ocean. Great staff, Great pool, close to beach, beach view over dune, clean, recently renovated and nicely kept, just can’t beat it for $"
