SubTerra: A Sanctuary Beneath the Earth



Sunken into the Earth and resting at eye level with nature, SubTerra is an underground haven designed to blur the line between the built and natural worlds. Inspired by childhood hikes through Old Man’s Cave, where the crevices and nooks of rocky terrain became secret sanctuaries, we sought to recreate that sense of discovery and wonder within our cabin.



By studying the intricate textures and layers of Hocking Hills' Black Hand Sandstone, we infused the design of SubTerra with the raw beauty and mystery of the terrain—creating a space that feels unearthed.



This therapeutic retreat invites you to indulge in rejuvenating rituals: an infrared sauna, cold plunge, massage chair, and hot tub await your arrival. The balance of heat and cold has long been known to revitalize the body and calm the mind. As tension melts away and muscles soften, you’ll find yourself renewed—relaxed, recharged, and ready for whatever lies ahead.



Between scenic hikes and breathtaking overlooks, restore your senses through SubTerra’s curated sensory pleasures:



Gustatory: A chef’s kitchen featuring a Wolf dual-fuel range, SubZero refrigerator, Zwilling Pro knife set, and outdoor griddle—crafted for meals that nourish and delight.



Auditory: An Audio Technica turntable with handpicked vinyl, and a home theatre sound system to elevate your evening ritual. 



Visual: Floor-to-ceiling glass walls, living greenery in in-house planters, and an 85" screen for cinematic moments and tranquil views.



Tactile: A plush Purple king mattress, Brooklinen bedding, and Overland sheepskin rugs to surround you in luxurious comfort.



Olfactory: A fireplace to warm the air and evoke the scent of cozy, crackling evenings.
