"The Royal Islander is a great place to stay, especially if you’re traveling with kids or a larger group. Having multiple bedrooms and bathrooms was extremely helpful and gave everyone plenty of space and privacy.
We traveled with a teenager and a younger child, so having a separate living room and balcony made the stay much more comfortable. The full kitchen was also a huge plus it was perfect for keeping breakfast items, drinks, and snacks on hand for early mornings or late nights.
The location is another major highlight. The Royal Islander is right next to the Sonesta and directly on Maho Beach. It’s an easy walk to nearby restaurants, shops, and local beaches, making it very convenient to enjoy the area without having to drive everywhere.
And the beautiful view overlooking the pool and ocean was truly the cherry on top! It was the perfect backdrop to relax and enjoy the island atmosphere.
My only cons were that the bathrooms felt a bit outdated, although they were very clean and well maintained. Also, the bar in the main lobby never seemed to be open or staffed during our stay. It would have been nice to have a bartender available for at least a few hours during the day or evening so guests could enjoy a drink without having to leave the property.
