"We recently stayed at The Ocean View Hotel from 13th–15th February and unfortunately were very disappointed with our experience. We chose this hotel specifically because of the facilities advertised on the website, including a swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, evening dining, jazz club with cocktail bar, and the daily “Happy Hour” promotion. These amenities were a major factor in booking what we hoped would be a relaxing weekend break. However, on arrival—and throughout our stay—we discovered that the swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, and evening dining were all closed. There had been no prior notice of these closures on the website or in our booking confirmation email. To make matters more frustrating, there were posters displayed around the hotel advertising “Happy Hour” from 4–6pm daily, despite the bar not being open. Breakfast was also an additional charge, and while convenient, we found that far better quality and more reasonably priced breakfast options were available just a short walk away in the town centre. The lack of communication felt misleading, as the facilities advertised were simply not available. Had we known in advance, we would likely have chosen alternative accommodation. While the stay itself may suit guests who only require a room, (if you don’t mind a bed without a headboard), we feel the hotel should be transparent about which amenities are operational. Clear and accurate information would help manage expectations and avoid disappointment. "

"Found the room quite claustrophobic with a very small bathroom and basin in bedroom. No food available as I was the only guest staying. Staff were very nice. Do not think I will stay there again. "

"Debbie and Andrew were excellent hosts! They were friendly and informative. The accommodation was so lovely and that super king bed! We would highly recommend Little gem to anyone, although I did struggle a bit with the stairs and getting into the shower as it was over a bath I managed as I only have slight disabilities. The jacuzzi was a wonderful bonus particularly if you have travelled from afar. Would we recommend or return? You bet your boots we would!"
