"Awesome boutique hotel next to the University of Coimbra. The decor followed the theme of literature and knowledge. The courtyard was great. Nice restaurant and breakfast buffet. Only note is that the rooms have 3 steps up from the sitting area to the bed, so not for the mobility impaired. Rooms are spacious, have a kitchenette in the room, and awesome views of the city."
"Amazing staff and clean, no frills, quiet property with an outstanding restaurant. Honestly, I was shocked when I entered my room. No windows, basically a box with a door….but let me tell you….the mattress and pillows were so comfortable. The pillows were divine. The shower water pressure is out of this world and so nice. Hot water came out immediately, so no waiting. It was so nice and clean and the staff made my stay so wonderful, including the restaurant staff. I was dubious at first, but I fell in love with this place. It’s right on the river, next to an amazing street that has brilliant restaurants, bakeries, pharmacies, and shops. There was dancing, parades, demonstrations, and even a winning football team getting a police escort in the three days I spent there. Big shout out to Margarita and Artur in the main office and Tiago in the restaurant. I loved Coimbra so much and you all made me love it more. Thank you. I will be forever grateful for all you did and I hope to see you all again. Much love. Obrigado."
"Need better description of parking in area around hotel on travel websites like Expedia beyond “parking available”. It does not help travellers from other countries who are renting vehicles know what to expect.
We had a kitchenette unit and did not have basic like salt, pepper, frying pan. Coffee maker did not work. Available dishes, cutlery and pots were good.
The room and bed was really good."
"This is a great base for a few days in Coimbra, which is a must-see in between Porto and Lisbon. Our room was comfortable with great beds and a view of the charming tile-roofed hills. The shower was very tiny and could be challenging for large people but it worked fine. The best thing about the Hotel Oslo is the rooftop bar with a stunning view of the town. The 5th floor breakfast area also has an excellent view. The breakfast was good, with a nice variety of Portuguese specialties. The Hotel Oslo is a quick Uber ride from the train station and an easy (hilly) walk to the charming shopping street and university."
"We had a two night stay at the Solar Antigo Coimbra. The Pros about the property are: unique accomodations, very nice staff & nice breakfast brought to your room each morning. The cons: The room (at least we the one we got on the main level) was very small, there is no privacy between the shower, toilet and the rest of the room. Our room was right beside reception and when i mean right beside, I mean when we opened our door new guests checking in were right there blocking our doorway. We were also bothered by guests checking in late or stopping to chat with the person at the front desk who would have long & loud conversations right outside our door at 10:30pm. The reception closes at 11 so this wasn't a problem after that. It was an experience, but I'm not sure I would do it again."
"Very cool hotel, the design is amazing, based on the ancient jeanine library. Our room over looked the river and was lovely & spacious. Breakfast was good quality and they provide complimentary tea & coffee with snacks from 3pm to midday, which was great, they have a nice rooftop seating are to relax too. Location is excellent for exploring Coimbra old town. "
