Milestone in the civil rights movement
This is where Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. marched and was arrested in February 1965. One month later on Bloody Sunday a crowd of protesters were beaten an two died. Later that month National Guard troops and FBI Agents allowed 300 marchers to march 42 miles from Selma to Montgomery( Capital) to protest voting rights for all races and genders. Subsequently President Johnson passed Equal Voting Rights legislation.
