We got into our room and one of the reading lamps on the headboard was pulled out of the wall and live exposed electrical wires were hanging out. "The Hotel Appenzell is absolutely charming! The central location on the plaza is excellent, with a view to activities going on in town. It's conveniently right next to the Tourist Info center. The staff was cheerful and helpful. They responded promptly to requests, such as for a fan in our room. The room was delightful. It was bigger than other rooms we stayed in in Switzerland, and it was decorated in a charming, white and gold french style, with crystal ceiling lights, and big windows...

"It is nice. Staff tried to be helpful. No WiFi in 2 rooms, we switch 2 room bevor we get one with constant WiFi. One rooms TV was broken, nobody tell us that, we figured it out after we moved in. Restaurant are fine, pricy like everything in Switzerland. Stuff was not really nice, kinder neglecting us, probably because we were with small children. Not bad, but for this price schuld have been much better…"

"Hotel was set in a beautiful location. Lobby, dining room, outdoor area, and movie room were nice. Rooms super basic. Hard beds, flat pillows, limited amenities, no room cleaning unless you wanted to pay for it. We also were only allotted 1 towel each for our entire 3 night stay. If you wanted another towel it would cost $8 Francs. No air conditioning and it was hot! Very limited front desk hours. We were given a code to put in prior to arrival but it was incorrect and we had to hunt down phone...

"Everything about this hotel was awesome. The owners (I think) and staff were warm and friendly and helpful and communicative. The room was comfortable and clean and had a great view. The location was bang on. And the facilities were everything I would hope to see. Great bed too. Excellent all rounder. Would recommend."
