The Inn and grounds were well maintained. Food at their restaurant was very good. The reason for my low rating is that I had booked a king superior room for an anniversary getaway and when we arrived after a 3 hour drive I was told due to a glitch in the system they did not have that room available and the only room they had that they could put us in was a double bed basic room in the detached motel-like wing of the property which had a gap in the door insulaion letting in a draft from the 30 degree air outside and a partially clogged sink with silverfish in the drain. As it was later and their restaurant was closing in an hour and wanting to get dinner I didn’t feel i had any choice but to take the only thing they were offering to get a roof over our heads. They did offer to take a little off the price of our dinner and breakfast ($25 which is not even enough to cover one entrée) as compensation for not having our room. I had wanted a nice room for a weekend away not a generic room like some cheap motel with outdoor access. If that’s what I had wanted that’s what I would have booked elsewhere for less money. I am quite certain they knew well before 7 pm on my check-in day that the room I booked well in advance was not available and they could have contacted me to let me know I could cancel and look elsewhere or at least that that was what I was going to have when I arrived. Instead they just said sorry but this is what you get like it or not. Felt like bait and switch to me.
