Fabulous Ocean View, Walking Distance to the Beach
10/10 Excellent
"With its spectacular view, Villa Veranera immediately stood out to us. We booked it for the view, its proximity to Samara Beach, and positive reviews, and our stay exceeded our expectations. Normally the thought of the host living right on site is kind of off putting to us, but I really loved the communication with Sherry before arriving, so I felt relaxed about it. Sherry was the perfect host. She is very relaxed, friendly, and was there if we needed her. This place is a chefs kiss. The view is immaculate, the pool is adorable, and the place has everything you need. After dining in town, we spent most nights relaxing on the gorgeous balcony (on rocking chairs!) chatting away, drinking our Imperials and listening to the sounds of nature. Every morning we woke to a symphony of birds backed by the roaring calls of howler monkeys from the valley below, returning to the porch with a fresh cup of coffee and a camera, hoping to capture some of the action. We were a little apprehensive about the uphill drive to the villa and were thrilled to have our little Suzuki Jimny for the job. As we became familiar with the route, we came to love the drive into town and the location was ideal for setting off on various day trips. It was really easy and quick! We were so happy to be staying at a place not right in town so we could get away. We honestly felt like it was our home for seven days. I wish it was! We WILL be back!"
"Overall my wife and I made the best of it and enjoyed; however we will never return to this resort. The good was really the staff. They work very long shifts - you might see the breakfast server as the bartender in the evening. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Now the bad…We saw on the site that there was construction at a neighboring resort; however they start early and work until late. The construction could be heard all day long - even during the massage with music on. To add insult to injury - they began construction in a room 2 doors down from us last few days we were there. It was so loud we couldn’t even hear the tv so we spent last few days outside our room which was fine with us as we like to be outdoors but returning to the room was miserable. Our last night, we finally asked to switch rooms. The client services manager said would have to ask general manager. All they did was not respond until the work day was finished so they could say oh no need work is finished. Would have been an easy fix - just another room for 1 night and half day but they chose to handle in poor service manner. The rainfall shower head sprayed in all directions due to the water mineral deposits blocking. The walk to the rental car is completely dark, trees and bushes etc were not well maintained. After the construction was complete - we could hear rodents on the roof all night - wife had to turn on soothing sounds to drown em out."

"It was a fantastic stay we had an amazing experience! Lots of space and super clean and well organized! Just what we needed! Great experience. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and would return again."
"The home is very nice with great views.
Are challenging experience was on the second day of our four day stay.
By the second day we had no water to the home.
On the third day I attempted to contact the property manager ten times by phone and messaging with no response. The host did respond and stated the water would be on shortly and apologized for the inconvenience. The host blamed the inconvenience on the town water district. We decided on the third day if water wasn’t restored we would leave by 12pm.
We had to use the pool water to fill up the toilet tanks in order to use restrooms and unable to shower. This horrible challenging experience was caused by the lack of attention to ensure the water storage tank for the home was filled prior to checking in. My personal frustration is with the host taking zero responsibility and not taking ownership with the fact that he failed to ensure this was done. The host blamed this on the country and the town stating this is how Costa Rica operates It was only when we checked out to find another location with proper plumbing that the property manager called and apologized and said he never received my missed calls. Then to stated that water had been restored and we were free to return to the property.
If anyone decides to rent this home out for a vacation stay please have host ensure that the water storage tank is filled up. We don’t want anyone to relive are experience.
We would not stay at this location again."
"Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Hotels beach was not really kid friendly, or even adult friendly. (at least not for me)
There was no space to put our towels and beach accessories. We walked about 5 extra minutes to get to the other side of the beach, which was in front of another hotel and it was a little nicer there.
There was a beach about 5 min away (by car), from the hotel (Playa Carillo), and it was BEAUTIFUL! Brian, the manager was so kind to give us a ride in his personal car because my daughters foot was injured and we couldn't walk there.
There were some foods that we ordered that were subpar, but there were some foods that were absolutely delicious (the fish, burger, ceviche). I really enjoyed the fish !!
The drinks (virgin, and alcoholic) were so refreshing and yummy. I loved every single one that they would make for me.
The breakfast was okay. The French toast was yummy and the fruits were fresh and juicy.
The staff was super accommodating and everything was pretty clean.
If you ask me, id recommend that they get a gold cart or similar, to get to a from the beach on site. (but maybe I'm just lazy).
Their shuttle service was punctual, and clean.
The excursions are pretty close (about 5 to 10 min away), and they were amazing !
All in all , it was an awesome trip/stay. I would definitely go back."
"No recomiendo este hotel para nada, el recepcionista muy malo, no estaba en el lugar, tuvimos que esperar, también no nos indicó nada, ni donde estaban las toallas de piscina, ni la clave de internet. El lugar huele mal en ciertos sectores, en la noche llegaba un olor terrible del baño, los muebles están en terrible condiciòn. No vayan ahí!"
"Beautiful location right next to Samara beach and several nice restaurants. A short drive to wonderful Camarillo beach.
Fridge, and nice shower. Make sure to ask for a room with AC."
Private, spacious, well-equipped & luxurious retreat. Perfect for large groups.

"Our family of four kids and four adults had an absolutely wonderful time at Casa Mesakeca! Everything was exactly as described in the listing, right down to the visits from howler monkeys and the proximity to an excellent beach. When the power went out our first night (not a typical occurrence), the property managers were incredibly responsive and fixed it immediately. I can't recommend Casa and Samara highly enough!"
