Excellent location close to bus stop, top restaurants and beautiful beach which was great for walking, snorkeling, whale watching and soaking up sun. Room with kitchenette had all I needed for week stay.

We arrived at night and our first impressions was a bit of a shock. We woke in the morning and we were now able to see everything. The location was perfect. The beach was right outside our door, with sun loungers available. It was the location that made this place. The beach area was beautiful. Plenty, of areas to swim. With the whales passing by at 11.45am every morning. Staff were super friendly when you saw them. They are only around for a short period of time but do answer emails quickly. Gardens were well maintained. We had 2 different rooms. One stand alone on the beach and the second room was part of the block. The rooms are very basic and dated. Beds were comfortable. Each room has a kettle and toaster. Our toaster was very old and rusty. In the beach villa there is an electric frypan. There is an area outside right near the beach which i am guessing is a hut for the workers. If they put a couple of BBQs here to cook from it would have been perfect. To be fair we purposly booked no kitchen as we were travelling with no kids and didnt want to cook. So it did serve its purpose. Would I stay here again? yes definitely. The bus runs at twenty to the hr and the stop is right outside. You are walking distance to edgewater and castaway. its a peacful spot with no kids. The price was cheap than a resort and the difference allowed us to eat out all the time. So i suppose that is what you have to way up.

- Hotel ligt "redelijk" dicht bij het vliegveld (10 minuten rijden) - De bus stopt voor de deur - Er is een convience store t/o het motel - Je zit aan het strand

Toccata e fuga

Camera spartana con lenzuola sporche ed asciugamani maleodoranti. Al nostro arrivo in piena notte ci attendeva una scarafaggio e prima di andare a dormire abbiamo dovuto sterminare un po' d'insetti. Unica cosa positiva il check-in veloce e la vicinanza al mare.

This is nicely situated on the lagoon- but there are really no facilities other than a room and a bathroom. Fine for an overnight stay or two- and they organised an airport pick up at the ungodly hour the flight arrived.

Affordable and relaxing

Three of us shared the studio apartment for two nights. It was basic but clean and airy and the staff were helpful. The cabana near the beach was fabulous and we sat and watched the whales swimming by. It was quiet.

nice and right on a private beach

arrived very late had the shuttle waiting -at the airport - tidy rooms not flash but comfortable. room was a very short walk to the beach very private and lovely. the staff were wonderful, and we meet and spoke with the owner for many hours. we have inquired about staying again and look forward to it.

Nice motel in front of the beach

Staff was very helpful and welcoming. The room I stayed in was tidy and perfect for one person. The bed was comfortable. I struggled to sleep the first night with the noise of heavy rain falling onto the roof but some people might find it relaxing. The beach in front of the motel is amazing and it has a nice area to relax.

I needed somewhere to stay for a stopover. I arrived late and tired, but could not sleep because the wind rattled the Windows, then from dawn there was a cockerel that kept on crowing. Then at 10.30 I had a bang on the door telling me that check out was 10am, but as I arrived late, had no sleep, I was not aware of the checkout time. Nice location near the sea is a plus point, no TV in room

Beautiful holiday

Awesome stay at Reef motel,staff very friendly very clean, lots of information about the island. Recommended stay for anyone going to Rarotonga and no TV lol. 1 minute from the beach front. Going back next holiday will definitely book into the Reef again.

Overpriced and dated

Booked here for one night, as close to the airport, just to have a shower and sleep after a 1 a.m. arrival. Horrible stuffy and dated room,roosters scratching and crowing around doors at dawn (although in fairness, this seems to be an island wide issue - Rarotonga is overrun by chickens). In daylight, the villas look ok and the location on the beach is good,but the motel room was horrid. Certainly NOT budget accommodation, very overpriced. Never again.
