Your Dream Costa Rica Villa - Ocean View Lap Pool - Private Chef-Secret Beach
10/10 Excellent
"We had an amazing stay! The house is absolutely beautiful as pictured! We loved the indoor/outdoor feel with the large sliders opening up to the outside living area, pool and full views of the Pacific. All bedrooms are air conditioned for comfortable sleep. We had plenty of room for our family of 8 and it was an ideal setup. Each bedroom has its own bathroom attached for privacy. The owner thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable. Sonia does her job well and is there to make your stay easy and is available to cook and clean. We ordered 2 evening meals prepared by Sonia and they were the best food we ate in Costa Rica. Breakfasts were plentiful and timely. All these details you can arrange with Sonia upon arrival. We owned an VRBO so we are familiar with how to run one and this is top notch and we would recommend it! Please know you should have 4 wheel drive for a vehicle as the road to get to the house has gravel and has some hills. Loved our stay! 5 stars!"
"Overall my wife and I made the best of it and enjoyed; however we will never return to this resort. The good was really the staff. They work very long shifts - you might see the breakfast server as the bartender in the evening. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Now the bad…We saw on the site that there was construction at a neighboring resort; however they start early and work until late. The construction could be heard all day long - even during the massage with music on. To add insult to injury - they began construction in a room 2 doors down from us last few days we were there. It was so loud we couldn’t even hear the tv so we spent last few days outside our room which was fine with us as we like to be outdoors but returning to the room was miserable. Our last night, we finally asked to switch rooms. The client services manager said would have to ask general manager. All they did was not respond until the work day was finished so they could say oh no need work is finished. Would have been an easy fix - just another room for 1 night and half day but they chose to handle in poor service manner. The rainfall shower head sprayed in all directions due to the water mineral deposits blocking. The walk to the rental car is completely dark, trees and bushes etc were not well maintained. After the construction was complete - we could hear rodents on the roof all night - wife had to turn on soothing sounds to drown em out."
"The property, which is in a natural preserve, needs better upkeep. The rooms are dated and our bathroom had lots of mold, which is totally unacceptable. Also, the rooms are spread all around the property through trails and you go up and down the mountain to reach them. This, in the suffocating heat and humidity, is exhausting. There is no A/C anywhere in the property except the bedrooms.
The restaurant is ok, but again: no A/C, limited options. The one shining pearl in all this was the SPA. I had a relaxing massage with Fanny, which was fantastic."
Beautiful Villa, private pool, amazing gardens! Walkable 5 bedrooms
10/10 Excellent
"This gorgeous villa is exactly as described with simple amenities in an extraordinary setting. The kitchen contains basic cookware and kitchenware, and there is no air conditioning in the living ares, as is in the description. But there is all important AC in the bedrooms, daily cleaning and evening security. There are a number of extra security measures in place, we did as we were asked and had zero issues. The house and grounds are beautiful - the pool area feels very private, even though the house is located in a very pleasant quiet neighborhood with other houses and restaurants a short distance away. You could spend your entire vacation in the shade of the veranda on the back of the house by the pool and feel like you found paradise. Great for the kids. There is high quality, comfortable solid wood furniture inside an out. Jackie was an attentive host. She gave us a lot of guidance before we arrived on what to bring and how to get there, promptly answering all questions. She arranged to meet us in person shortly after we arrived to give recommendations on things to do in the area, and we had a lovely time just talking to her. There was plenty wildlife around the yard to keep us entertained all day. We were fortunate enough to catch the change over from the dry to rainy season quite literally in the middle of the week we were there, and watched the whole landscape and surroundings change with emerging green and all kinds of animals and insects in a matter of days."
"Located about a mile and a half outside Playa Carrillo Beach, tucked away in a small community. This place offers peace and serenity for those searching for it. The backyard is a peaceful oasis offering a wonderful plunge pool, hammocks, charcoal and gas barbecue grills, plenty of seating for as many as 12 or more. The inside is spacious and quaint. It's like a little mountain Casita with some modern features. You have the option for open air concept here or you can use two of the mini splits they have on hotter days. Host is extremely responsive. The property is clean and well maintained. Maid service is offered as part of the package. I strongly encourage you bring a car. If you are not using a car there is a local cab driver named Jabier; the host will have his contact info. If you do get a chance to meet Jabier, he makes and sells some of the best of ceviche we've had in all of Costa Rica.We spent a total of 13 days here and it was absolutely what we needed to recharge before going home. The beach is small and beautiful and not crowded. There are food vendors across from the beach. There are multiple grocery stores and there is a carneceria in town. Leyenda hotel offers a restaurant open to the public that has a massive variety. This is definitely staying on our list of repeats. What a hidden little gem!"
