We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vicarage Cottage. It is indeed ‘a hidden gem’ and we would highly recommend it to future guests. The sizeable kitchen, cosy lounge, small landing and exquisitely decorated bedroom all contribute towards a most unique holiday destination. All communication with the hosts was positive and helpful. With many thanks to John and Paul for sharing this beautifully restored cottage with us.
Delightful, old cottage in lovely, inspiring setting. Beautiful garden adjoining property and incredible main house which we were shown round on our last morning.

Lovely old cottage in a great location
Old Vicarage cottage has been restored to a very high standard but has kept most of its original features from the past. It was like stepping back in time for the few days we spent there & it was warm & cosy too .... even with the snow outside. Had a great time & really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in the tudor cottage that is fully appointed with all mod cons and furnished in Victorian style, The cottage shares splendid surroundings with the coach house and beautifully restored vicarage. John and Paul were very helpful in making our stay so memorable.

A relaxing home from home in a wonderfully peaceful setting
Vicarage Cottage has clearly been restored with love and care by the owners - it is far above your average holiday let! I recommend it unreservedly.
The cottage was perfect in every way. It's spacious yet cosy and comfortable, very well equipped and the living room fireplace is an added feature. The surrounding area is outstandingly beautiful with walks just a stones throw away. All in all one of the best places we've stayed in. Thank you Paul and John!

Beautiful, cosy cottage with outstanding views
Honestly could not fault our stay in Vicarage Cottage, it was so wonderful that although we had planned to go out a few times we decided we’d rather stay in - so never actually made it out the front door until we left! The cottage itself is lovely and rustic, yet has a gorgeous modern bathroom - so best of both worlds really! It is in a nice, quiet location but with ease of getting to places - if you do actually manage to make it out! Truly a wonderful place to relax for a few days, highly recommend.
The Vicarage Cottage is a gem: rich in character and historical delights, and yet tastefully updated for the 21st century so that it is cosy and as modern as it should be for the broadband and USB era. Paul and John were hugely welcoming as well as interesting and cultured hosts, and they even gave us a tour of the main house which they have been pajnsatkingly resorting to its full Victorian glory for the last 25 years. We greatly enjoyed our stay in Norton and would have no hesitation in recommending this place to others!

A wonderful retreat from the world
My second stay was with my daughter. As soon as she saw it , it was love at first sight. A busy life being a nurse and this was so relaxing and so cosy and comfortable. The cottage is a property that anyone could just move into and just live!!!!!!
Can't wait for our next visiit.
Charming period cottage surrounded by wonderful countryside
We loved staying in Vicarage Cottage. It has been renovated and furnished to a high standard while keeping its period cottage feel. We enjoyed hearing from the owners about the renovation process and the history of the cottage and the Old Vicarage. There are good walks around the village and further afield, and Presteigne and Knighton are interesting small towns. It was a great pleasure staying there, and we had an excellent week combining relaxation and reading with excursions in the surrounding area. We highly recommend Vicarage Cottage!

Perfect country get away
By far the most cozy, homely atmosphere I have had the pleasure to experience in a long time on a holiday. Great landscape, hosts and fresh local food from nearby villages made this get away the perfect retreat from everyday stress and hassles. I am defiantly going again soon and will be spending the time walking the countryside, visiting the local shops and pubs and enjoying the fresh air. If you’re looking for a cottage with character, warmth and a real feel of the home you’ve always wanted look no further. Thank you for great memories!
I highly recommend the vicarage cottage this beautiful little cottage is so well thought out, comfortable, homely, very well equipped with fantastic attention to detail and a great shower, with views over the neighbouring farm fields, in a quiet little village there's a co-op shop with a petrol Station a few miles away for the essentials, a perfect stay

A beautiful sanctuary
We have visited Vicarage Cottage and its sister cottage the Coach House a number of times now over a number of years, as well as holding our wedding weekend at the Old Vicarage. The properties are charming and decorated with taste and flair. Standards are always first class and little touches such as home baked cakes and scones just add to the feeling that you are a welcome guest and that your enjoyment is Paul and John's greatest wish. Our stays here are a real sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of life in London and we feel relaxed and away from things as soon as we drive into Norton. We cannot recommend a stay here highly enough and we look forward to returning as soon as we can.

'An exquisite little gem in an oasis of calm and tranquility!'
Vicarage cottage is without doubt one of the most impressive and beautiful places you could wish to be staying at. From the moment you open the door, it takes your breath away and you feel the weights of worry fall from your shoulders. It was exactly as described and the pictures don't do it justice. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, be it for a long weekend or a week or two, it was spotlessly clean, with towels provided and even bath robes. Ambient lights abound, comfortable and impressive half tester bed, lovely little range/aga should you wish to light if chilly, comfortable settees and more seating upstairs to make the most of the spectacular views from the window. We stayed 3 nights and didn't want to leave at all. There is lots to see in the area especially if you like history and castles and stately homes, as well as little villages full of character. We thoroughly loved our stay and can't wait to return again soon. Paul was so welcoming and friendly and we felt so at home. The cottage is a wonderful place to stay and we have already recommended it to our friends. Should you wish to escape the rat race for a while and just relax, then this is the place to come to!
Thank you Paul and John for sharing your beautiful cottage with us

A wonderful relaxing stay!
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay in this wonderful period property (stay of 2 weeks). It is packed with character, not in the least because of the many antiques (it is lovingly decorated, with eye for detail). But, it being a period property, it comes with beams, an inglenook, old doors etc. so the house oozes character all by itself!
The owners are really friendly and stay in touch about how you are doing (and made sure we had a change of linen in the middle of our two weeks) but give you lots of privacy too (which we craved, living in the busy city centre of Amsterdam). This is also enhanced by your "own" driveway and garden (small maybe for some, but quite enough for us).
We particularly loved the huge kitchen area and the cosy living room (all those lamps!). Upstairs, there's a small second seating area which was ideal for those sunny mornings (with views over the surrounding hills). The bathroom was more than adequate sizewise (supplied with big, thick towels and bathrobes). The bedroom was also of a considerable size, with the only "minor" thing for us being the width of the bed itself (we're used to 160 cm and our own duvets + mattrasses -> but this won't be a problem for those used to one duvet and one mattrass; it was soft enough for us in any case).
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area. There are many walks you can do and towns to visit (we did both). Presteigne (tip: visit The Workhouse Gallery for gorgeous rugs and other crafs) and Knighton are small and rural. We also visited Shrewsbury and Ludlow, both of which we loved. Leominster is also a nice town to visit. In Wales we visited Rhayader (great rural little town) and Aberystwyth (and on the way there The Devil's Bridge which is worth while) next to a walk to Pen-Y-Fan (breathtaking scenery!).
A must-see (tip from our landlords, thank you!) is the Elan Valley! Do take your time to drive around, see the dams and stop over at The Penbont Tea Room (delicious cakes!).
So: all in all a great stay!
Vielen Dank an John & Paul wünschen Martina & Otto
