"There are many positives and very few negatives, but the negatives far tip the balance of the overall value and feeling we had. My wife and I flew into Milan for 8-days where we already had a nice hotel booked and paid for, however due to poor weather we decided to take a high-speed train to Naples for 2-nights. We had checked into our hotel in Milan, it was nice and very much had working air conditioning. Upon checking into our room in Naples we had NO working air conditioning. We called the front desk where I was expecting an explanation about how the local laws prevent the use of air conditioning in public spaces, but instead was told "we see the air is on and working". I confirmed it is indeed one, but NOT working. They said "WE WILL LOOK INTO IT TOMORROW".... which they never did. We didn't even need air conditioning, we just needed circulation of air as the room gets hot and stuffy without air moving around the room.
SO the solution? Well what we thought was a window was not, but rather a shared balcony with the next door room. We were able to open our door to allow cool air to come into the room which was fine that first night, but the second night was a MAJOR problem. The second night the noise never ended outside--partying, loud cars, SMOKING. Finally at 2am, we angrily got up to close the door. We did not sleep much at all. We will NEVER stay at this hotel again, no matter how friendly the staff was, how good the breakfast was, etc. NOT acceptable!"
