RR Hotel da Rocha

"A pleasant hotel, but I was hoping for a little more given the reviews. The hotel is modern and has all the facilities you could want, including a swimming pool, gym and bar. Breakfast was good, and I would say above average overall. That said, I would recommend changing the brand of baked beans and sausages! The bar was also a nice place to relax, with plenty of TV screens if you enjoy watching sport. We didn’t try the restaurant, as there is so much choice in the local area. However, the hotel might benefit from offering guests an incentive to dine there. I believe the themed buffet costs around €35 per person. For me, the main downside, and the reason I wouldn’t give five stars, was the lack of sunshine. Our room was at the back of the hotel, meaning our balcony was always in the shade. In October, this made it quite cold, and we would have appreciated being offered a room with a sunnier aspect. The pool area was another disappointment in this respect, as it remains in the shade for much of the day. By around 1.30 pm, there was hardly any sunshine left around the pool. A big plus, though, is the beautiful beach directly opposite the hotel, where sunbeds were available for just €6 for the day. Overall, we had a nice stay and enjoyed ourselves. With a few improvements, particularly around room allocation and making the most of the sunshine, the hotel could offer an even better experience. Thank you for a pleasant stay!"

"Hotel says 5 star could be argued as lower , needs updating , 80's decore , air-conditioning in room didnt work first night, couldn't leave door open for the patio cause it didn't have a screen ,second night they sent a repair man to fix air-conditioning, mildly better but not great . Parking not on site off site, bad directions to get there. Breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel . Great beach and pool. Staff wonderful. Awesome location"

"Svitlana was amazing and gave clear directions and was very helpful, welcoming, and kind. The unit was spacious, had great outdoor space, a beautiful pool, great location, loads of amenities, and parking included. The only issues were that the parking situation was a little confusing, there were a lot of stairs up to the apartment which was hard for carrying luggage on my own, and the walls of the adjacent apartment were thin so I could hear the neighbors talking. But the pool and the amenities and the service was amazing. Overall, I highly recommend, just be prepared for a lot of stairs."

"Most importantly this place was very clean, neat and included some important amenities (full kitchen, handy ingredients, bath/hand towels, dvd movies and some books, etc.) Beach towels not included but that's ok... Sun beach umbrella was and that was very necessary. Loved the ocean facing balcony so we could enjoy mornings and evenings with a view. Washing machine was very helpful to have. David was very kind and quick to respond to my inquiries. Located across the road from beach and main strip, however still very quiet and felt private. Very close to Aqua Portolimao (large shopping centre). Great place to stay... I would highly recommend and hope to return! Thanks for a wonderful time and experience our first time in Portugal!!"

"I took off a star because this location is listed to have a/c... the 1st evening we searched high and low looking for the remotes and finally messaged the host. We were informed that the a/c/'s were not working due to maintenance being done on the roof. It was SO warm.... we struggled to get to sleep. The next morning, I messaged the host requesting a fan and was told he had no access to one. Again, we had a miserable evening. It felt like we were camping. I booked this 4 months prior and felt mislead regarding this issue. If I had been made aware, I would have made other arrangements."
