"The Mercure, Launceston was only just, clean and tidy but apart from the bar and restaurant manager the staff weren't very friendly and it certainly didn't seem like we were a priority. "

"A bit disappointing for a heritage property, it definitely needs refurbishing and the room we stayed in had a large beam that was cracked and rotten that need immediate attention. the bed was made but the sheet was sideways so the mattress protector was exposed and our feet were on it, which as realised in the middle of the night."

"We had a fantastic stay in a spacious riverview suite that immediately felt comfortable and well thought‑out. The shower/bathroom was a good size, and the whole place was spotless and inviting. One of the standout features was the amazing view, which made mornings and evenings feel extra special. The location worked perfectly for us — Riverbend Park was just a short stroll away, ideal for children, and it was only a 10‑minute walk into town, making it easy to explore without needing the car. We received a lovely welcome, complete with Tasmanian chocolate truffles on arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The reception team was friendly and genuinely helpful, making check‑in smooth and offering great local tips. The kitchen was well appointed, with everything we needed, including a coffee machine and an excellent supply and variety of coffee and tea. One small thing to be aware of: if you’re staying on a Friday night, the Mudbar on the ground floor of the building has a DJ and it can be a bit loud. It didn’t ruin our stay, but it’s worth noting for light sleepers. Overall, this stay exceeded expectations — comfortable, convenient, and full of small touches that made it memorable. Would happily return. "

"The Art Hotel surprised us. It worked out well for our trip. It was next to the Catholic church, which was important for the lenten season and it surprised us. It was on a busy street, but very walkable, markets, the gorge, restaurants and downtown. It has a short check-in time which surprised us too. There was a call number to get the key for our room. We had minimal interactions with the staff."
