This place is the epitome of “you get what you pay for,” although in this case I’m not sure I even got that.
My flight was delayed, so I arrived late just wanting to check in, get some sleep and call it a night. Instead, I walked into the lobby and had to check in through a computer screen with a someone overseas i couldn’t understand. Communication was difficult, but eventually I got checked in and made it to my room.
That’s when I met the welcoming committee. Cockroaches.
I actually took pictures because you can’t make this stuff up. Once I got past the roaches, I tried to settle down, only to find a bunch of pesky flies buzzing around and landing on the bed. Got pictures of those too. The towels were balled up on the rack, and the whole room just didn’t give you the feeling that it had been properly cleaned or prepared.
I also needed a refrigerator for items that had to stay cold. After nearly an hour trying to get that resolved, I gave up and left.
Between the roaches, flies, condition of the room, frustrating check-in and questionable activity outside, there was no way I was staying there. I grabbed my things and left.
I wasn’t expecting the Ritz-Carlton. I booked a Motel 6. But there’s a difference between inexpensive and unacceptable.
Sometimes you get what you pay for. This time I didn’t even get that.
