"A great one night stop over on our return to York from the Island of Skye. After 8 hours travelling the inn was a welcome sight. Staff lovely. Bar well stocked. Food excellent - can recommend the Venison Pie! Breakfast was great too. Plenty to fill up with. Prices were very good too. Only tiny gripe was the room was a little too warm. No air conditioning (which we didn’t expect it to have) but a fan would have been an improvement. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area."

"Hotel and room were beautiful. Check-in clerk was friendly and welcoming. Location was completely charming, and the breakfast was very good. We were in suite 7, and therein lies the problem. An hour after checking in and prior to leaving for dinner we discovered our TV didn’t work. We mentioned it to the clerk who said she would have a look while we were out to dinner if that was OK with us. We gratefully agreed and left for dinner. When we returned, the TV still didn’t work and the front desk was closed. We decided it was not a huge deal, and turned in to sleep. That’s when we began to hear running water in the bathroom. I walked in to see water running from the light fixtures and cracks in the ceiling, which were also now sagging a bit. I found an emergency phone number on the internet and called it. The woman who answered seemed completely unbothered, stating that this was known to happen when the room above us takes showers. She apologized but said there was nothing that could be done for it. We asked to change rooms, but of course they were all booked and no staff was on location. We put towels down and dodged dirty upstairs shower water streams while trying to get to our own sink. The lady also told us she knew about our TV and believed the prior tenants must have broken it. All that being said, we still enjoyed our stay. If these issues got fixed, it would have been almost perfect. The area and the village of Bamburgh made up for the Inn’s shortcomings."
