"Things I like about the hotel: The restaurant is exceptional. The breakfast while extra is good. The dinner is excellent. The food and desserts are some of the best I’ve had in Portugal. As a luso-American, I know the importance of complimenting your host’s wine, so I will say it is affordable, but I would appreciate different wine options such as one of the excellent Douro region wines or Porto. The staff is very friendly and kind. The location is also good. Areas for improvement: Having been to other four star hotels in Portugal, I have a certain expectation for the condition of the room. But I do not come from wealth, so I also try to be understanding. The hotel is mid-renovation, which is good because it is somewhat dated. The carpet in our room was stained near the door and there was damage on the lower portion of the walls. To be clear, this isn’t an un-nice hotel, but it did not meet my expectations for a four star hotel. The bar was unmanned every time we went in. However, we stayed there over the Republic Day holiday weekend, so there may have been a staffing shortage. Overall not a bad hotel, but it also does not meet my expectations for the price or star rating. A staffed bar and finishing the renovations would assuage my concerns."

"Hotel AC was a good start to my Camino walk. It was closer to the train from Madrid but pretty far from the trail. Breakfast was fantastic, I was able to protein load before the walk."

"This was probably my favorite hotel in the camino portugues! So comfortable and luxurious. Our room was a great size. Our bed was very comfortable, the hotel was unique and interesting. Our bathroom was spa like and I loved the tub after a long day of walking the camino. Very convenient, just off the c amino, and close to restaurants and town. We enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor sitting areas. I would love to come back!"

"Expedia did not make it very clear that the pool is now closed, the only reason I chose this hotel over another was for the pool! If I had known this, I would have picked another hotel that was cheaper as ir had no pool Everything else in the hotel was nice and clean and a good night sleep"

"A beautifully presented property, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Quality linens, comfortable bed and well appointed accommodation. Easy to walk into the town. Parking nearby. Would happily stay here again and recommend it. Thank you."

"Wonderful stay with one minor critique!We had a fantastic time during our stay here. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the service was top-notch, and the overall atmosphere was excellent. Everything from the check-in process to the overall comfort of the room exceeded our expectations.The only area that could use an improvement is the bathroom, which felt a bit dated. However, everything was perfectly clean and fully functional, so it didn't take away from our experience. 9/10- We highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!!"
