Beachside Cottage in great location, only 30min from CBD

  • The 2 BR cottage is a simple retreat with direct access to a safe beach for walking, exploring and all water activities. The beach is in front of the cottage.

    The kitchen has a pantry, fridge/freezer, hotplates, toaster, electric jug and crockery. The bathroom has a combined shower over bath, with toilet and washing machine.

    The main bedroom has a double bed, and small walk-in robe. The second bedroom has 3 bunks, with storage under the bunks and on shelving.

    The outside deck is large and overlooks the water. A sun umbrella and outside chairs are provided.

    Where.
    The Cottage is on the main beach at Opossum Bay, which is 30-40minute drive from Hobart CBD, and 40 minutes from Hobart Airport. The public bus route goes past the Cottage.

    To Do.
    There is also easy access to heritage and trail walks, plus the surfing and fishing ares of the South Arm/ Opossum bay peninsula.

    BBQ and playground are 100m South of the Cottage.

    Restaurants.
    The General Store is open 7 days for groceries and takeaways. It is 200m walk South from the Cottage.

    There is a restaurant, Bar, pizza at South Arm which is 7km South from the Cottage.

Our second visit here and it's never long enough. Already booking the next trip. Incredible night sleep with the sounds of the waves just outside the window. The host is fantastic to communicate with. This cottage is quickly becoming our little home away from home - if we need to go to Hobart, I will immediately look to see if Opossum Bay is available.

Great little spot if you want to be in a quiet little town right on a pristine white beach with superb views of the derwent river and mount wellington. We were greeted by 2 dolphins about 5m off the shore as we entered the front door. Place was clean, neat and tidy and had everything you need. Host was great to deal with and nothing was a hassle at all. We’re heading back soon. Thanks.

Second Stay, Same Beautiful Location

The second time we have stayed at this great little property, and once again it delivered the goods. Steve is easy and great to deal with and the little cottage is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Positioned absolute beachfront, you can’t beat the location. Would recommend highly.

Wonderful stay

We had a very nice stay at opossum bay. The view from the front was amazing. Bed was very comfortable and the whole layout was good. The only negative is: that it would be good if a handrail was installed for pathway to the property. Overall we had a lovely time

Cute little house with reasonably steep descend to the house. Amazing views. Single beds are suited for children more than adults. Overall a good place to stay. Very neat & tidy

Wonderful property with the beach literally outside the door, very clean and well appointed, it felt cozy and welcoming. We booked very last minute and the owner really went to extraordinary lengths to ensure all was ready for our arrival. Highly recommended.

We didn't want to leave.

We loved everything about our stay. The bed was very comfortable, the beach cottage had everything that we needed, being able to step out onto the beach and water was just magical. Listening to the water just metres away from the windows at night was so relaxing even watching people walk by in the mornings while having our coffee was a treat. We also do a lot of walking so having a trail close by was an added bonus. Definitely a place to come back to for a longer stay.

Absolute Beach Frontage

This place was so nice, the photos don't do it justice. With the sound of waves lapping outside the window day and night, and an amazing view, right on the beach whats there not to love. We will be back for sure

Fab waterfront old school shack

Unbelievable water frontage with incredible sunset views looking back at Mt Wellington. The walks on Gellibrand Reserve take you to the first whaling station in Australia. We ate fresh flathead caught off the beach and watched a seal playing in Opussum Bay.

Short stay

5 nights on the beach. Location is super, and for the price, the accommodation is great; clean and has everything you need for a self contained place. It gets very sunny in the afternoon so aircon comes in handy after a stroll along the beach. Steve was very responsive and helpful. Check in was a breeze. Thanks!

Beautiful view

Enjoyed our stay. Steep stairs were a bit difficult due to poor fitness but we were told in advance and agreed so can’t complain. The view made up for that. So relaxing watching and listening to the waves.
