"The pool was beautiful, and central to all the rooms. We loved hearing the monkeys, cicadas and birds all day and night. We really felt like we were in the jungle, yet also bear all the action. Rooms were clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved our stay!"
"Employees were amazing and super helpful. It was great to have a small kitchenette in the room. Sunrise Cafe across the road was fantastic.
We have two kids - so something to keep in mind - the walk into the main area can be about 30-40 minutes in the heat (bring lots of water)."
"Overall my wife and I made the best of it and enjoyed; however we will never return to this resort. The good was really the staff. They work very long shifts - you might see the breakfast server as the bartender in the evening. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Now the bad…We saw on the site that there was construction at a neighboring resort; however they start early and work until late. The construction could be heard all day long - even during the massage with music on. To add insult to injury - they began construction in a room 2 doors down from us last few days we were there. It was so loud we couldn’t even hear the tv so we spent last few days outside our room which was fine with us as we like to be outdoors but returning to the room was miserable. Our last night, we finally asked to switch rooms. The client services manager said would have to ask general manager. All they did was not respond until the work day was finished so they could say oh no need work is finished. Would have been an easy fix - just another room for 1 night and half day but they chose to handle in poor service manner. The rainfall shower head sprayed in all directions due to the water mineral deposits blocking. The walk to the rental car is completely dark, trees and bushes etc were not well maintained. After the construction was complete - we could hear rodents on the roof all night - wife had to turn on soothing sounds to drown em out."
"The property, which is in a natural preserve, needs better upkeep. The rooms are dated and our bathroom had lots of mold, which is totally unacceptable. Also, the rooms are spread all around the property through trails and you go up and down the mountain to reach them. This, in the suffocating heat and humidity, is exhausting. There is no A/C anywhere in the property except the bedrooms.
The restaurant is ok, but again: no A/C, limited options. The one shining pearl in all this was the SPA. I had a relaxing massage with Fanny, which was fantastic."
"Had an amazing time! Beautiful views, delicious inventive food at the on-site restaurant, and outstanding cocktails (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). The staff are very kind & seem to all make sure to know you by name. As others said the included laundry service is a really nice feature, daily cleaned clothes for yoga and beach means less extra clothing to pack or dirty laundry to travel with. Morning yoga classes were wonderful. Their shuttle drops you at their sister property serving same food from the main site & leaves a short <10 minute walk to the beach, and short walk to some shops and restaurants. Bugs are around as this is the jungle but nothing unmanageable, and good quality bug repellent cream resulted in getting barely any bites (sallyeander no bite me). The room has a bug repellent spray also. The morning cleaning leaves the room sparkling and fresh when you return from breakfast. Saw and heard a lot of cool animals- monkeys, frogs, large and small birds, etc. Can’t say enough good things about staying here."
"Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Hotels beach was not really kid friendly, or even adult friendly. (at least not for me)
There was no space to put our towels and beach accessories. We walked about 5 extra minutes to get to the other side of the beach, which was in front of another hotel and it was a little nicer there.
There was a beach about 5 min away (by car), from the hotel (Playa Carillo), and it was BEAUTIFUL! Brian, the manager was so kind to give us a ride in his personal car because my daughters foot was injured and we couldn't walk there.
There were some foods that we ordered that were subpar, but there were some foods that were absolutely delicious (the fish, burger, ceviche). I really enjoyed the fish !!
The drinks (virgin, and alcoholic) were so refreshing and yummy. I loved every single one that they would make for me.
The breakfast was okay. The French toast was yummy and the fruits were fresh and juicy.
The staff was super accommodating and everything was pretty clean.
If you ask me, id recommend that they get a gold cart or similar, to get to a from the beach on site. (but maybe I'm just lazy).
Their shuttle service was punctual, and clean.
The excursions are pretty close (about 5 to 10 min away), and they were amazing !
All in all , it was an awesome trip/stay. I would definitely go back."
