Pretty much exactly what I needed for the weekend.
Inexpensive. Place was super clean, the manager was very welcoming and friendly. Places to eat and groceries just around the corner.
I would stay here again and probably will next year at the same time!
I genuinely got the authentic Brooklyn experience and I really appreciated staying where I stayed. The lady who checked me in was very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean too. The place also came with everything I would need. My only dislike was the floors in my room were a bit dirty and I think there was a slight opening in my window so little gnats would creep in sometimes.
Excellent stay. No frills. No tv. Just a room. Affordable. I only spent two days and the second day I was sick. ( Nothing to do with the Victorian). I’m so glad there was complimentary tea included that I could make for myself. Didn’t need a car because train and bus are extremely close and if you have the app Citymapper it makes NY a breeze. The hostess Christine was very nice and welcoming. She told you all you need to know about the area. My bed was extremely comfortable and that was especially needed because I felt sick that second day. The room and sheets were very clean.
Cons : Bathroom was very small. Even though the rooms on the floor share the bathroom, I never had an issue with occupancy. I don’t like the shared bathroom concept but if I’m on a budget, I’d do it again.
A very clean comfortable and safe environment. The air conditioner was new and kept me cool. The room, hallways and bathroom were very clean. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The Inn is definitely a landmark and it is about a century old. There are a few West Indian restaurants that served very delicious grandma style food in the area.
The location is great and I will definitely return!!
Wonderful experience and a great place to stay! Felt right at home!

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
I expected this to be a basic property, which it was and the woman who I think lives upstairs is very nice. The issue for me, as a single woman, was that I felt unsafe. The doors do not have a strong lock at all. In addition, there were numerous men outside my door talking very loudly until 3:15 am on both nights that I was there. It was virtually impossible to get a good night sleep. The wall and door are very thin. It is also unfortunate that those properties next door are very dirty, garbage piled outside, and it adds to the feeling of being in an unsafe place.

Liked: Staff & service
The room was decent except I was right next to the bathroom. I must have heard 5 different people taking a shower late at night. The heater was leaking out some air or something and made an annoying whistling noised. Couple that with something blowing around on the back porch lead to sleepless nights. Other than that, the place was acceptable.

Let me say right of that the Victorian Inn is a decent value. At about $90 a night, it's cheap for Brooklyn. For that you get a clean, sparsely furnished room and a shared bath.
The experience was well choreographed. The manager sent me comprehensive instructions on accessing the house and the location of my room key (behind the door). If from that you intuit that I didn't meet her, you'd be correct.
The Victoria Inn's location is pretty good. It's not in a great neighborhood, but I never felt unsafe. And it is a quick walk to the subway station on Church for the 2 and 5 trains. Not much local entertainment or eateries, though.
Would I stay here again? I'm not sure. Having to share a bathroom is a pain, and I'm not sure that it's that much cheaper than more traditional motels.
It kind of reminded me of DC back home but I had a good experience here. It is threw me off guard when I arrived because I was expecting a hotel but it was a family owned home it seems! But I had a good
Time here was just right for me! The staff here was so polite kind of wished they had a little more anemenitites like soap lotion and body wash but other than that it was good to be here and crash for the night
