"I was concerned after reading some of the reviews but we needn't have been. The communal spaces were lovely, beautifully decorated and elegant. we had an amazing room overlooking the gardens and the city. staff were very helpful. the parking situation is a bit stressful though"

"Plenty of parking, warm welcome in enormous reception with lots of comfortable seating areas, helpful local info. Comfortable rooms in grand old hotel. Some areas need a bit of paint but generally good condition. Comfortable beds. "

"Quite simply a very good hotel. Well located for rail station and then the city centre and thereabouts easily accessible on foot. Reception was good, breakfast had a great selection of the usual stuff plus a hot food menu option. Room was well equipped and clean. Went for the club deluxe option which did not disappoint.
