  • Juniper Cottage shares with our home and Hawthorn Cottage two lovely acres in Somesville, a historic village at the heart of Acadia National Park. It is just a short walk to the library, repertory theater, church, museum, and convenience store. Both ocean and lake are within walking distance also. The view from our property is of Cadillac Mountain, across thoughtfully landscaped lawns and gardens. Juniper's screened porch and gas fireplace make it a charming home away in any season. Our rental week runs from Saturday to Saturday, with the exception of MAY, when stays of 4 nights are possible at a reduced rate.

This cottage was all we could have asked for. It was very nicely furnished and super clean. The location was fabulous. Convenient to Acadia and surrounding attractions. We would highly recommend it.

Cute little cottage perfect for our four night getaway in Acadia. Perfectly located near everything. The place was clean and had all of the necessary pots pans utensils etc to meet our needs for daily cooking. It was super clean and everything was excellent. I highly recommend booking it.

lovely and convenient

We had a marvelous time and hope to return. The cabin was beautifully laid out, comfortable and well-appointed. The location cannot be beat for convenience, yet has a feeling of privacy.

Great Cozy Location

Marilee was a great host, her cottages are cozily away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, but still close enough to everything else you'd want to see on the island. Felt very taken care of, looking forward to another stay in the future!

Juniper Cottage

Property was a nice size for two. Property grounds and neighborhood are very nice - park-like setting. Helpful information of nearby attractions. Overall an enjoyable/comfortable stay.

Can’t say enough good things about our stay here. We felt completely at home. The cottage was clean. Location is convenient to everything in MDI and located in a peaceful setting. It has everything you need to cook at home. Photos don’t do it justice. There was plenty of space for us to spread out. Take a walk down to the pond/museum to see the iconic bridge and spend some time watching the avian wildlife. It’s well worth a visit! Thank you so much to Marilee & Ken for sharing this beautiful home. We hope to return and stay here again

Beautiful property, great location

This property is just minutes from Acadia National Park. It was clean and nicely-furnished. Marilee was a pleasure to deal with, and the house felt like home. We would highly recommend this property and hope to come back again.

Ideal for Acadia visitors!

This was a great home base during our visit to Acadia. Felt like a close proximity to the park and easy to come back to during the day. Had everything we needed in order to make meals. The hosts were very responsive and helpful during our visit!

We really enjoyed our stay at Juniper cottage! Everything was really clean and very comfortable too. Although the cottage may have appeared small on the website, it had all the room we needed. My husband and I loved the screened in porch for enjoying our morning coffee and for the few rainy days we had. The bed was comfy too!The cottage was located very close to Somes pond (more like a lake). There we went fishing, did some bird watching and saw some loons the lake that were quite 'playful'. There were also quite a few osprey dive bombing their would be prey most evenings (June).

We loved our stay at this great cottage!

Great location on the quieter side of the island, but convenient to get to the heart of Bar Harbor. The cottage is clean, comfortable and relaxing. We loved it! Appreciated the suggestions for local restaurants and hikes! Close to Beech Hill Farms for organic produce, scones, and other items. Would definitely stay here again!

Cozy and quiet

Lovely cottage with everything you will need. On the quiet side of MDI, and a short drive to Acadia NP. Plan to buy your major groceries in Ellsworth, then to Beech Hill Farm nearby for the best produce you will ever eat. Wonderful restaurants in nearby Southwest Harbor. If you want a totally relaxing vacation this is the place.

We have been visiting Mount Desert Island and Acadia NP for over 30 years and until this year have always stayed at the same place. This cottage was a great choice and is tucked away in Somesville which is a lovely hamlet on MDI. It's convenient to everything on the island and also very quiet and "out of the way". While we're used to visiting Bar Harbor for food and shopping we found that Somesville and Southwest Harbor have great options like the Salt Shop for ice cream and the Little Notch bakery for excellent pizza and deserts. This location is still only 20 minutes from Jordan Pond House and Cadillac.The owner was wonderful and very responsive to our questions. The cabin is beautiful and well maintained.

Wonderful Cottage

My wife and I stayed at this cottage for six nights. We were visiting Maine for the first time. Marilee could not have been more helpful. She was quick to respond to questions we had regarding the area. This cottage is perfectly located if you want to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Love the cottage and our stay. Should we visit this area again we will definitely stay here.

Fabulous!

We enjoyed our stay here so very much. The cottage was as pictured and so clean and well equipped. We bought some groceries and cooked for a few nights, and the kitchen had pots, pans, and all utensils needed for our stay. We did appreciate the A/C unit in the bedroom to keep it cool at night, and the ceiling fan helped circulate the cool air without any problems or feeling it was too hot. The couch was comfortable, and the screened porch was the perfect spot for morning coffee, or an evening cocktail while reviewing our day and making plans for the next. This is not in Bar Harbor, and it took us about 20 minutes to drive there, but we enjoyed the quiet side of the island much more and still had everything we needed. There were maps and activity pamphlets left for us to help decide what to do and where to go. The flowers on the windowsill were a sweet touch as well. If we come back to MDI, we will definitely book here again, or refer to our family and friends. What a gem!

A sweet stay in Somesvile

I loved this light-filled, roomy cottage a half-mile off the main road in the village of Somesville. I had always stayed in Bar Harbor, but when my usual apartment went to long-term rentals this year, I decided it was time for a change. I truly didn't miss being in town, and found this location perfect for the places I like to hike. Everything was as described and well maintained. Fresh flowers were a nice touch. I've already booked for next year and plan to become a regular visitor the second week of June.

Perfect cottage!

Very comfortable cottage with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Charming decor, comfortable bed, lovely screened porch. Full kitchen made it easy to eat in but location was not far from anything we wanted to do in the National Park or in towns.
