Calm, central and sunny, with unobstructed view

The apartment is located in Ecusson, the historic centre of Montepellier. This apartment of 65 m² has been entirely reformed and can host 4 people in a centenary building. We appreciated the renovation, which respected the traditional architecture and the huge exposed beams in the living room. The view over the property is totally unobstructed. The apartment is located in a neighbourhood of Montpellier with the biggest number of sites and monuments that are all easily accessible on foot. On one side, the Arc de Triomphe, the royal square of Peyrou, and the botanic garden that was created upun request of Henri IV. On the other side, Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Canourgue Square, and Mikvé. Just next to it, you can find the Medical School and the Anatomy Museum, the Courthouse, and the City Hall. Foch Street, the place to go for high-class shopping, and Loge Street, both located two steps away, take you to Comedy Square that is still called « the egg » by the old citizens of Montpellier and to the vast Esplanade and Corum-Congress Centre and Opera. Twice a week, the Arceaux market will entertain those who love colours and the smells of midday. On Sundays, the exposition of antiques takes place at the royal square of Peyrou. The parking space that is located nearby allows you to enjoy all the tourist attractions of the area, as well as the beach, which is very close. Montpellier gives direct access to the sea with the beaches of Palavas and Grande Motte. In the east, you can visit Aigues Mortes and the Camargues with its salt plains and flamingos. In the west, you can go to Sète and the lake of Thau for tasting oysters. In the north, less than one hour away, you can visit the Cevennes region, whose valleys and villages are full of historic and religious heritage. You can also enjoy the famous Anduze bamboo grove. Wine enthusiasts cannot miss the wine producers, where you can taste Coteaux du Languedoc, Pic Saint-Loup, Faugères or Picpoul de Pinet.

Comfortable flat in a picture postcard location

Located on a picturesque street a bit away from the livelier squares and shopping streets, on the top floor of an elegant old building. We found it an ideal base for exploring the winding narrow streets. There's an excellent patisserie right next door (dangerous!) The flat is well-equipped, up-to-date, and comfortable, and Florence was very hospitable. As other have noted, be ready to climb three floors up on an old stone circular staircase.

We were warmly greeted upon our arrival by Florence and Michel. We immediately felt at home. They took care to explain how everything worked in the apartment and directed us to the covered market so we could pick up a few things for dinner. The apartment is beautiful and has a well stocked kitchen including a salad spinner! Coffee and tea were available and a washing machine. There are a lot of stairs but the stairs didn’t take away from our visit. Everything to see in the old section is in walking distance. We loved the location. Parking was convenient but we suggest getting by with the smallest rental car as the parking garage is narrow. We would highly recommend this apartment and if we are back in the area we would love to stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment which located in the historic heart of Montpellier. Apartment is very comfortable and convenient for families and friends stay. Living in Montpellier

My partner and I wanted to experience what it would be like to live (rather than visit) in France without a car and picked Montpellier. The apartment was perfectly located and appointed to access all the amenities, sites and vibes the city has to offer. The train so convenient to visit other towns and bike rentals close by to access all the amazing bike lanes the city has to offer - absolutely beautiful cycle to the beach etc. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and easily contacted if needed. The only thing I would add, for those who like to sleep with the windows open for cool night breezes, is that ear plugs are helpful as the young student? population can get pretty lively late into the night! Montpellier is an amazingly beautiful city and this location was perfect to experience it!

We have spent a month in this apartment twice. The listing is very accurate, and the price more than reasonable. It is in an excellent location, just off the historic Place de la Canourgue. It is just within the medieval center, so everything there is within easy walking distance. The apartment is well appointed, clean and well maintained, with a kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bath. The boulangerie next door is one of the best in the city. There are many restaurants nearby-try especially L'Atypik, which is owned by the landlords' son. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The train station is about 10 minutes away on foot, and Place de la Comedie even closer. When the new tram line opens (July 2016), it will be even easier to get from the train station to the apartment. One thing to note-it is on the 4th (American) floor, 3rd (French) without an elevator.
