"Room is clean but it has a damp smell?Location is good . Breakfast was good, we stayed for 3 nights but breakfast was the same for 2 days. People are very nice and that’s the most important thing!!"

"The parking was very secure in a garage under the hotel. They obviously power wash this area. I spoke with the maintenance guy and he confirmed they power wash it a lot. "

"Portola is great! We stay there whenever we go to Monterey, the hotel is great, the employees couldn't be more helpful, the location is the best in walking distance to so many things which i really love. Don't hesitate on booking this place."

"Room was clean and cozy. Staff were friendly and helpful. I liked the location, there was so much within walking distance. Downsides: the old hotel has a weird layout, it’s hard to navigate and although there is an elevator, I still had to drag luggage up some stairs and through narrow corridors. No onsite parking so you have to pay extra to park, and again you have to carry luggage around."

"Ease of access to parking. Appears major renovations are in the works. Vending machine are a bit further than expected and ease of shortcut access poorly lit. Bed is comfortable. Note window is wide and faces towards pool in public view. Good size refrigerator in room for drinks."
