"We had rented the room with 3 queen beds. The room was nice, except we had ants on the 9th floor. On the second day the ants were worse so I went to the front desk and they immediately moved us to the 14th floor. When I went to the room to check before we started moving in, I opened up the sofa bed, the 3rd queen bed in the room, and there was a note under the cushion saying do not open the bed, ask for a rollaway bed. Well I didn’t spend $5k to have someone sleeping on a rollaway bed, so back down to the front desk and explained the situation. They did find us another room, one floor under our original room. No ants for the rest of the visit. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The staff was great, especially trying to get us situated after two days of ants. The balcony did have an ocean view. I would have liked to know that there is practically no beach at the hotel. We had to walk along the tiny strip of sand behind the hotel to get to an actual beach, or walk the Waikīkī beach walk to find another beach. I think saying a hotel is on the beach would mean there is some sort of actual beach to use. The tiny strip behind the hotel literally had 10 people on it and there was no more room. When you go to Hawai’i and you book a beachfront hotel, you expect there to be a beach. I also did not know we had to valet our car as there was no self parking. $60/day was an unexpected charge. Overall though the hotel was very nice, although I wouldn’t stay there again."
