Moorlands - Merriott Moorlands is a large Grade II Listed country house that was designed for William Cuff by the acclaimed Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. Although C16 in style, it was built in the late C19, and despite its low status listing, is nevertheless deemed to be an important house of the late C19.

Rennie Macintosh connection at Merriott Church Somerset Merriott church may just be a simple English village church, but the great Scottish Art Nouveau architect and designer Charles Rennie Macintosh, used it as the basis for his design of Queens Cross Church in Garscube Rd. Glasgow.

During the time of the Spanish Civil War,the notable Mr Petter of Yeovil and others had acquired the house and Mr Peter Biffin a missionary from Spain brought over Protestant refugee women and children who lived there during Franco's regime.
