"Photos for family rooms show bunk beds for kids as we have had in previous rooms, however it was actually a small sofa bed. Disappointed as the bunks were the main reason I booked this for teenage boys,
If you have mobility issues ensure you ask in advance for a room in the main hotel. My elderly parents were allocated the garden court room which they struggled with, we hadn’t realised there were two buildings.
in the garden court area had dirty glasses and empty wine bottles outside several rooms, 24hrs later they were still there attracting flies due to the heat,
Hotel was fine for one night stay but Wouldn’t rush back."
"Great hotel, lovely staff. We were visiting family in York so didn’t need to use public transport, but there is a bus route outside to get into town. Clean tidy and comfortable bedrooms, beautiful gardens around the hotel. Would recommend and will be back again."
"Arrived in the heat wave Saturday 23rd May.
View from the room No43 was directly out across the bay, 2 floors down from reception level, the lift was slow and small.
The fan provided was broken and after asking twice we bought our own. The hotel did say they had none left to other customers who then left. At this time of year the seagulls were very vocal and building nests on any flat ledge. This also prevented us from having the windows open.
The style and location of the hotel is its attraction. The staff in the dinning room work hard and the breakfast food is always topped up. Again the view is wonderful and it is one floor down from reception using the same lift but not too many stairs.
Parking is a problem, you need to be patient or use a local multi-storey 5 minutes walk away. You are high up from the bay but each end of the hotel has a funicular railway.
It is a budget hotel but we would be happy to stay with Britannia again."
"We came here for our mini-moon the day after getting married. We paid almost £500 as a treat to ourselves and we won't be coming back. We have 4 issues with our room which should have been picked up by house-keeping/maintenance. The staff were nice enough and house-keeping was very apologetic but we weren't moved rooms until the next night (which also had a couple of issues but it wasn't worth moving again for). The cocktails were perfect and the food was good, the french fries were my favourite although I did have to send back my caesar salad though due to dirt on the salad leaves. Parking is expensive and unclear. Due to a misunderstanding we ended up paying £84 for parking, the hotel then "refunded" the £40 but it just got turned into credit for the hotel."
