The Space:
Billy Button by Tiny Away is located in Maindample, just two hours drive from Melbourne. This tiny house is set on peaceful acreage and offers the perfect escape from the city hustle. From your window, you can soak up uninterrupted views of The Paps and the tree-lined Mt Buller mountain range—a serene hideaway and a charming gem among Tiny Away’s off-grid holiday homes.
Nearby attractions include Lake Eildon, ideal for boating and fishing; The Paps mountain range, known for hiking and scenic views; and Mt Buller, which offers walking and hiking in summer and snow sports in winter.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split-system air conditioning, a kitchenette with cooking essentials, and excellent bathroom facilities. These include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, a hand basin, and a gas-heated shower.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We are a self-catering accommodation, so please bring all your basic necessities such as food, water, and other essentials.
Guest Access:
Guests can access the tiny home and most of the property, except the fenced house yard and front paddock (driveway use only). Please leave all gates as you find them.
Firewood package for outdoor fire pit can be purchased at $45 per tub and includes kindling, wood, matches and fire lighters (equivalent for one evening’s enjoyment) to be used in the fire pit provided.

Explore nearby Lake Eildon for boating, fishing, and swimming, or hike The Paps for sweeping mountain views. In winter, head to Mt Buller for snow adventures, and in summer, enjoy its scenic walking and hiking trails.
Nature lovers can visit The Paps Reserve for breathtaking lookouts or wander the Great Victorian Rail Trail, only 1 km away, for a picturesque walk or cycle through farmland and bushland. The High Country Region, including Mansfield and the Alps, offers stunning lakes, rivers, forests, and mountains—perfect for scenic drives and spotting local wildlife.
Getting Around:
By car:
- From Melbourne, 2.5 hrs, 177 km and to nearest towns 10 mins, 14 km
- Is it reachable by 2WD.
By public transport:
- Getting to 178 Midland Link Hwy, Maindample
- From Melbourne (nearest major city). You take a train/bus: Take the V/Line train from Southern Cross Station to Seymour, then transfer to a V/Line coach to Mansfield (approx. 3.5 hrs total). From Mansfield, it’s a 10-minute taxi or car ride to Maindample.
By car:
The tiny house is about a 2.5-hour drive via Maroondah Highway (B300), offering a scenic route through the Yarra Valley and Bonnie Doon. The nearest towns are:
- Mansfield: 10 min drive east — shops, cafés, restaurants, and supplies.
- Bonnie Doon: 8 min drive west — lakeside village, boating, and Rail Trail access.
Local transport options:
- Car rentals: Offered in Mansfield township.
- Taxis: Available from Mansfield Taxis.
- No public buses run directly to Maindample, so a car or taxi is recommended for local travel.
Other Things to Note:
- No Pets Allowed
- Potable water is available via the tap.
- No smoking anywhere on the property
- A maximum of (2) guests and (1) vehicle are allowed on the farm
- All major mobile networks have strong coverage on the property
- No BBQ grill is available, but the tiny home includes an electric hotplate for cooking
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Child-friendly accommodation. Please be vigilant of the large ponds and water troughs throughout the property, as it is a working horse farm. Supervision of children is required at all times.
- Fencing is designed only to restrict the horses from accessing the Tiny Away paddock.
Important note:
- We do not advise swimming in any of the farm’s ponds.
- Due to the nature of the property, be aware of reptiles and insects
- BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- Whilst the horses are friendly and enjoy being fed grass, guests will enter horse paddocks at their own risk. The host is not liable for any personal injury or damages incurred due to interaction with farm animals.
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain our cassette toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests.
