"Nice stay, great host, breakfast excellent, parking excellent, small room but absolutely fine for what we needed. Shortish walk to town and back, bus service available but we just walked. Definitely would stay again."

Holiday Inn Express Portsmouth - Gunwharf Quays by IHG
6/10 Okay
"There’s disabled parking right at the hotel but to understand how to access it call the hotel direct so you don’t get caught out. The rooms are on the small side as are the beds, we had a room for 3 adults. Breakfast was good and plenty available. If Miles is on reception you’ll be well looked after. He explained all about the Quays and shopping and dining options and really knows his stuff. It makes it easier to shop till you drop knowing the hotel is easily accessible"
"Front desk person was very friendly, informative and helpful. However, when we arrived at the pool it was unfortunately very unclean with brown scum around the water level line, someone had even scrawled in writing in the oily residue. Horrible smell around the poolside and the water so murky you couldn't see to the bottom. Room was OK, bed comfortable enough. We didn't book for dinner and got turned away, which was disappointing. Breakfast OK. "
"Dog friendly room was clean but very basic and tired/worn looking even for a dog friendly room.
Missing the basics like a mirror in the bedroom & maybe a coat hook by the front door.
However the hotel itself was fantastic, set within beautiful grounds. The staff throughout were excellent & very welcoming from check-in to the bar staff to the restaurant staff. The food in the restaurant was incredible & reasonably priced too. We would definitely return. "
"That's a family friendly hotel in an easy access location. Staff is very helpful. The manager, Jimmy, helped us settle down quickly. They also provide good quality room service with limited choices. The spa and pool is a bit small but that's clean and warm."
"Staff at check in were great. Car park was very full because there's a public gym at the hotel. Hotel rooms are weird - there's only a window in the bathroom. No fresh air available in the actual hotel room. Air con system is rubbish. Room was dusty throughout. Terrible night's sleep because there was a thumping noise coming from above my room - it sounded as if we were directly under the gym and there was always someone throwing weights at all hours. Not a good experience. "
"WiFi is awful! It’s just really poor but free so everyone is using a system not able to cope. Also, disabled parking spaces were blocked off with building work so parking was harder than it should have been.
Breakfast was very good and staff in the restaurant each take a station and were really on it all the time so nothing ran empty and everything was hot and fresh and there were no delays. The pool was nice but the jacuzzi is colder than it should be and was fed with cold water."
