"If you are looking for somewhere central this apartment is in the very centre of town and the Saturday market. It is not for those less able as there are 3 flights of stairs to the apartment. When you are at the front door the neighbours dog barks. We appreciate there is nothing that can be done about this. "We recently stayed at The Cottage in the Wood in the Malverns and, overall, had an enjoyable stay. The setting is beautiful and the hotel has a lovely atmosphere, but there were a couple of aspects of our experience that I found disappointing. Before our stay, I tried to book dinner in the hotel restaurant, only to be told that they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate us. As hotel guests, I found this rather surprising, particularly as dining is clearly an important part of the experience offered by the hotel. I called back to explain my concerns and, to their credit, they did manage to find us a table. However, we were told that we had to dine at 6pm, which felt unnecessarily early. What was particularly frustrating was that, during our meal, the restaurant appeared far from full, and it seemed there would have been no difficulty accommodating us at a later time. I also have to mention the coffee, which unfortunately was very poor on both occasions we had it — after dinner and again at breakfast. For a hotel of this standard, I would expect considerably better-quality coffee, particularly at breakfast. I appreciate that restaurants need to manage bookings and staffing, but I do feel that hotel guests should be given reasonable consideration when it comes to dining arrangements. The fact that we were initially told there was no availability, only to find that there appeared to be plenty of space when we actually ate,"

Great Malvern Hotel

"Excellent location in central Great Malvern for a couple of days hiking in the hills. This is a classic old school English hotel with a modern twist and excellent service. Check in was easy, the (twin) room was clean and comfortably furnished with a large bathroom. We ate in the bar - serving very good food (homemade pies and gravy were v v good) and good range of beers. Some lovely touches such as a daily newspaper in the breakfast room and bar, specials on the chalk board to accompany the regular menu and lots of space - bar, lounge / dining room and a separate ‘cranny’ for more hanging out space. Also a well equipped games room. The breakfast gets 10/10! Proper, attentive, personal table service (no buffet!) with a full menu; all the usual breakfast fare plus a few unexpected extras. Healthy options along with the full English. The service was particularly good. I was so impressed, on arrival at breakfast on day 2, the waiting staff remembered my “coffee, toast and marmalade” order from the previous day and just brought it to the table unprompted. A lovely touch and entirely in keeping with the service ethos throughout. And it was proper bread (not the cheap sliced stuff that’s in lots of other hotels) with proper marmalade. A great start to the day. The whole 2 days stay exceeded my expectations. If I were to go back for a stay in Great Malvern, this is where I’d book in."
