Grand Hotel Villa Balbi

"This is a great location if you are looking to explore Cinque Terre and Portofino as they are easily accessible for day trips. Also very easy to walk around Sestri Levante. We stayed in a junior suite with our 2 children. The suite was spacious and clean upon arrival and we received a daily refresh with clean towels. A pre-stocked minifridge still had space for us to stick a few items of our own in it. We opted for the daily breakfast package which I highly recommend as there were many good choices and a premium coffee maker. The kids enjoyed all the pastries and breads. As a gluten sensitive person I was impressed that they had some prepacked gluten free options at breakfast and supplemented with fruit, eggs, and breakfast meats. The pool was a nice perk and made for a relaxing late afternoon treat for the kids. We did not use the beach across the roadway but it did look nice. We ended up using another beach on the other side of Sestri Levante and rented chairs there; it was a quiet bay with paddle board rentals. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and the bar was well stocked. It's probably more like a 4.75 but I didn't want to discount the place or the staff with a 4. It's a very old but elegant building so there are some areas that look tired but it was extremely clean. I wish I had gotten more photos to post but I was enjoying it so much that I forgot."

"We stayed in a balcony room that, while dated, was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and offered great storage. The effective air conditioning and small fridge were highly appreciated during the hot weather. We did experience two main issues during our stay: poor soundproofing and weak Wi-Fi. The noise from the passing train was noticeable, and an outdoor beach party went on very loudly until 2:00 AM on our first night. Furthermore, the internet connection was unreliable, which we suspect was due to our room being situated the furthest distance from reception."

"Wir haben die Unterkunft gewählt, weil sie ein ausgezeichneter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen in der Cinque Terre, aber auch für Rapallo und Portofino ist. Wir fanden die Lage großartig. Ruhig, abgeschieden und trotzdem ist Lavagna für Einkäufe und Restaurantbesuche fußläufig über einen schönen Wanderweg in 30 Minuten zu erreichen. Das Häuschen fanden wir sehr komfortabel. Es hat alles, was es für einen Urlaub braucht. Um die Cinque terre zu besuchen, sind wir mit dem Auto auf den PR-Parlplatz nach Sestri Levante gefahren und weiter mit der Bahn.Übrigens ist auch Sestri Levante unbedingt einen Besuch wert. Auch von dort kann man schöne Wanderungen unternehmen."

"Hotel molto carino e ben curato nei dettagli. I proprietari sono gentili, accoglienti e pronti a venire incontro ad ogni esigenza. Ottima colazione servita nel grazioso giardino interno. L'hotel è leggermente fuori dal centro, ma è tutto raggiungibile facilmente a piedi. Ci torneremo molto volentieri."
