"This unique boutique hotel is charming! It was quite a walk to the beach, however worth every step. The amenities, especially the steamer were greatly appreciated as we had traveled and needed to freshen dress clothes for a wedding. A great stay and I’d highly recommend."

The Mara Laguna Beach an AvantStay Hotel

The Mara Laguna Beach an AvantStay Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"We had an excellent stay at The Mara and really enjoyed our time there. The location was great, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the hotel offered several thoughtful amenities that made our stay especially enjoyable. We loved having access to the pool, jacuzzi, and sun deck for relaxing, as well as the complimentary coffee and pastries in the morning. They also provide beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas, which came in very handy for our trip to the beach. The highlight of our stay was definitely the complimentary “paint and sip” class. It was such a fun and unexpected amenity, and we had a wonderful time painting a beautiful sunset scene. Being able to take our paintings home with us also gave us a unique keepsake from our trip! Our stay was part of a post-wedding mini-moon, which we had mentioned in our reservation. I was a little surprised there wasn’t any small acknowledgment of the occasion, as that would have been a nice personal touch and felt like a missed opportunity. That said, the paintings we brought home from the complimentary class ended up being a much more memorable souvenir from our mini-honeymoon than anything that could have been left in the room. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at The Mara and would happily recommend it. The great location, friendly service, relaxing amenities, beach gear, and unique complimentary activities made it a memorable and enjoyable experience."

Capri Laguna on the Beach

Capri Laguna on the Beach

10/10 Excellent
"Our stay was very relaxing and we got to enjoy the dramatic sounds and sights of the ocean at our doorstep. The rooms are updated and have a little kitchenette with microwave and fridge. The best part of the stay was the staff - Nick, Bachir & Morgan, always friendly and willing to help. Wine and cheese in the afternoons on the terrace overlooking the sea. Continental breakfast in the mornings. Also helped us with our luggage to our room. Things to note: the beach sand is very narrow, so not much beach area, and the waves are so big even at low tide. But there are decks to sunbathe on with umbrellas and tables. There is also a warm swimming pool."

"The front-desk staff were great, very helpful. The continental breakfast was decent, plus afternoon popsicles ! The location is wonderful - a short walk down to Crescent Cove and Shaw's Cove, near the northern end of the free Laguna Beach Shuttle, and only a 30-min walk to the town center. The cleaning staff needs improvement. Our hair conditioner bottle was empty. The room was clean when we checked in, but room attendant jumped the gun and started cleaning our room before we checked out. We had a couple of roaches scurry across our room floor. It's an old building with some issues, but we like its funky, coastal vibe. This is our second time staying here and will be happy to return."
