"Rooms were an ok standard, but we were expecting more, as historically the hotel was known to be one of the better ones in the area. We were disappointed with the quality of finish in the bathroom (bath water was luke warm at it's hottest setting and the tap fixture leaked water through the top of the fawcet when opened. The sink made funny noises and the water pressure was erratic. The room wasn't spacious and we felt a little cramped, although it was just about ok for our needs."

"Pros: Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Short walking distance to Mickleover centre with a wide range of restaurants, pubs/bars.Good breakfast selection. Cons: Hotel appears outdated, especially the rooms. The first room I was given (308) had a sliding door to the balcony with a gap letting cold air through and offered no sound proofing to the busy A516. This room was happily exchanged for another (307) but again the balcony door offered no sound proofing or heat retention despite closing properly. Poor mattress as you could feel the springs. Review would have been 2* if it wasn't for the friendly staff."

"Old Hall is a quirky, beautiful old building. The bedroom was cosy and clean. The reception staff were amazing! Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast service was a little disappointed. We had to ask for water, brown sauce, baked beans, teaspoons and tables were left with dirty plates for longer than needed "

"This time around it wasn’t as good as my previous stay at this place, sorry to say but the first room i was given room 410 didn’t have any WiFi, the curtains were broke and wouldn’t close also with the room not having double glazing windows and being level to the busy main road the car noises are so loud and not possible to have a good nights sleep! After i complained about this i was given a room in the main building room 134 on the far side however the WiFi didn’t work properly here either so i wasn’t able to do any work on my laptop also the room wasn’t cleaned properly as the tea cups had lipstick and tea stains from previous customers. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned either the shower drips all night and doesn’t shut off properly and saying it was 3 degrees in the night the heater was turned off even though to the morning! Was a very good nights sleep! The only positive is the spa area is lovely and there lots of parking. "

"In the main the stay was good but we were very disappointed with the room we were offered. This room faced directly onto the pool which was being used from 7.00 am each morning hence we were woken earlier than planned. The noise of the pumps were also an unwelcome distraction while trying to sleep - disappointing when we thought the rest of the hotel was good."

"Our room was ready for check-in rm 122. The shut window let alot of noise in from busy road. Pillows arent the comfiest. The breakfast was good, nice selection, hot english breakfast and tasty crispy bacon. My night was disturbed at 1.30am-2.30am by noisy guests slamming door and arguing loudly so it disturbed my sleep and didnt then feel safe. The car park is £5 surcharge which should just be added to the hotel booking cost as where else does one park! Location is good, near to spa and decent restaurants."
