"We had a suite overlooking the pools & a sea view. It was a really lovely room & very spacious. The shower was lovely & had hot water every day bar one. My only gripe with the room was the foam pads/cushions they expected my daughters to sleep on. The sofa bed was actually a solid piece of wood, beautiful but not comfortable in any way. Maria kindly brought up 2 proper mattresses the next day & all was good after that. The accommodation is very central for Stalis, 10 seconds from the bus stops both ways, & a 5-6 min walk to nearest beach. Supermarket is across the road, 2mins & nearest cocktail bar & amazing Italian restaurant within 3-4mins. The busy road can be hard to cross, take real care but is manageable. Taxi to Malia 10euro or bus is 2.20euro per person."

"It is a good hotel. Beautiful location, friendly staff. But for the price and as it is 5 star hotel, i would expect to more. For 5 star hotel i would expect for better food quality, better facilities and fancier rooms! I would be a great for 4 stars hotel."

"We had a lovely time at Axel. Loved the breakfast choices and the staff were always kind and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was an Axel opening in Crete and I hope it becomes a solid gay destination. I think a shuttle every few hours to the main Hersonisos or even the nudist beach will be a game changer."

"We had a lovely week at the Abaton. All the staff were really friendly and helpful particularly when on departure I discovered I had left my straighteners in the room. The staff went above and beyond to locate them…which they did. We did half board which was really handy and the restaurants and food was amazing and in a beautiful setting. The hotel is in a great location and if you don’t fancy the pool there was plenty of beds on the beach. All in all a very restful week and the weather was gorgeous!"

"This is a beautiful resort with a gorgeous beach and wonderful restaurants. It’s very quiet and has a lot of families with young children. The rooms are spacious with nice balconies and I would stay here again if I ever go back to Crete."
