"I booked the Shakespeare about three weeks ago. When I arrived it was shut and had apparently been closed for some time. I had to find emergency accommodation at emergency accommodation cost. Extremely stressful."

"Had a superb stay here, would definitely stay again. Cooked breakfast and cereal/fruit platter was fantastic. Lovely host who is very welcoming and helpful. Its a good location in Kendal, away from the busy pubs but is only a short walk to the shopping high street."

"We have stayed at the Riverside hotel a few times. Not been for about 8 years but had a one night stay on the 9th May. It has been one of my favourite hotels but after staying this time the cleanliness has gone down hill. The family room No 3 was very dusty on skirting boards and dado rails and window sill was covered in flies. The shower room needed bleaching around the bottom of the shower. The lamp on the dressing table was extra dusty on top . These things can be put right if you got a good cleaner in. It has certainly put me off staying again. The breakfast was so nice & were the staff. A lovely clean bed but the lack of dusting in the room has let this hotel down. 😪"
