"3rd time staying here. Connected to Jr utsunomiya station. Corner twin room spacious , and bed pretty good. However breadfast does not really change and staying 4 nites can be tiring. Onsen is quite good, with an outside pool. Use this hotel to visit nikko as jr local train is so comvenient. Also use JR to travel tohuku region like sendai n morioka."
"Nice new building & modern rooms, friendly staff, convenient and free parking. Walkable from the train station but is uphill and not very close (probably not a good idea with bags). The property offers free transfers from the station, but only hourly and just a few times a day - I would not consider this a negative though given the hotel is affordable and taxi rides are cheap. "
"Excellent hotel for a reasonable price. Location is conveniently close to the train station. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Free ochazuke was unexpected and really really good!!"
"The apartment was very clean. All the amenities worked as expected. The large flat screen TV was very nice. The Onsen and hot stone bath were great. "
"The hotel itself is very clean, updated, comfortable. The room we had was on the traditional side and was spacious with a separate bedroom with balcony with river view.
Buffet dinner was delicious. Hot tubs is clean and amenities including shower head were great. Recommend to stay just one night. Because the “Kinugawa” itself is a small town and surrounded by abandoned buildings, not much to do.
The check in staff didn’t let me know you needed reservation for the return taxi. I planned to grab a taxi to the train station at the check out but then, the staff told me without taxi reservation or shuttle reservation, waiting time for a taxi is around one hour. We ended up walked to the train station but missed the train and spent 5 hours waiting for the next train.
I think the hotel staff should have let me know the reservation when I checked in as they knew we took a taxi to get to the hotel at check in.
Lack of taxi service is understandable due to the size of town, so make sure to ask about the taxi or shuttle for your return!!!
The check in staff was impersonal. The hotel seems to cater to a large group of people so if you are looking for more of traditional type of Japanese hotel service, look other hotels. But over all great hotel experience. "
"Very Disappointing Stay – Completely Overpriced
I left this hotel with a headache and body aches after one of the most uncomfortable nights I’ve had in a long time. We paid ¥62,100 for just one night for myself and my two daughters, and it was absolutely not worth the price.
The sofa bed was unacceptable—it felt like sleeping directly on exposed metal springs with an extremely thin mattress. It was painful and made proper sleep nearly impossible. The pillows were overly thick and uncomfortable, causing additional strain on my neck.
The room size was far too small for three people. There was not even enough space to open a small carry-on suitcase, which made the stay even more stressful and inconvenient. On top of that, having the toilet inside the same bathroom space made it very impractical and crowded for three people to use.
For a 3-star hotel at this price point, basic comfort and space should be expected. Unfortunately, this stay fell far below even minimum expectations. I would not recommend this hotel to families or anyone expecting a comfortable stay."
"Room little dated but extremely spacious, and very clean. Only comment is lack of USB port. Buffet was adequate but missing the ‘wow’ factor. Property was little far from train station, I think it would be much convenient if the shuttle will bring guess back to hotel instead of just one way to the train station."
