There are many attractions very close to the dusty, crowded and noisy city of PhnomPenh in Cambodia . Kirirom (Mountain of joy) NationalPark is one among them, a nice day trip about 100 km from the city , depending on traffic, should be a 2.5 to 3 hours drive. And specially interesting is the Chambok Ecotourism site.

Located in the Kampong Speu Province , this beautiful landscape was a visual treat. I could witness the whole scene change right before my eyes as the climb towards the Mountains started. This mountain had varied colours of flora at different heights and is completely different to what you see elsewhere in the country.

If you are ever in this mountain / National Park, do not miss the opportunity to sit by a river or a #lake or a waterfall and experience the calm of the wilderness. There were tiny fish in the slow waters, kingfishers nearby waiting for their catch, the pine forests at a distance and loads of butterflies

You get to see carefree kids come in for a dip in this river just after lunch time and have the time of their life. What surprised me was their genuine happiness without those hi tech gadgets. The river was their joy and a few wooden planks assembled on top of 4 large / empty plastic cans was their joy ride in the river. Nothing seemed to stop them from being wild and happy!

During our home stay in Cambodia in the early morning hours, we watched the life of the people start to come alive.

This hut had a open-wood burning stove which one of the female family members started getting ready for breakfast.

Not sure if if was the crackling of the wood, the roster crowing in the back ground or just the knowledge of the day starting but this small building became the center of attention only a few minutes after the picture was taken.
This is evidence to what I mentioned in one of my previous posts about the Kirirom (Mountain of joy) NationalPark / Mountains, part of the Chambok Ecotourism site. This beautiful landscape is such a visual treat that I could witness the whole scene change right before my eyes as the climb towards the Mountains started. You can see that this mountain has varied colours of flora at different levels and is completely distinct from what you see elsewhere in the country.
