"This place was absolutely beautiful and very historic. The cherry on top was the AMAZING service. We only spent one night here but wish we were able to stay more. Very close to the water and lots of shopping around. "

"I am a solo female traveller. Zanzibar House is an excellent property in so many ways. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are a delight to be in, with lots of comfortable places to sit and read or contemplate the beauty of the area.
I did not use the pool and I am sure it would be lovely.
At night time I had an evening meal which was tasty and they accommodated my dietary requirements very well. I am gluten intolerant. I recommend this hotel if you like quiet and beauty filled...

"Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast as expected, nothing fancy but nice. Great rooms with Daily moskito hindering. Nice size. Great and nice, but rather small pool.
In the end the hotel lived up to our expectations."

"Poor management and the hotel has no freedom by desk but is operated out of a restaurant that is around the corner. The room is basic a bed and bath. The manager is not around but part of the time but only at the restaurant. No sign at restaurant that there is a hotel and we were the only guests. Would not return. "

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ycona resort in Zanzibar. From the moment we entered the resort the workers made us feel like we were at home. They allowed us to have an early check in after our morning flight. We stayed in the beach villa, which was absolutely magnificent. Private pool, great views of the ocean, and a rooftop tub as well. The villa was clean and well-cooled, a perfect place to relax and soak up the sun.
What really made our stay at Ycona special was the amazing service from everyone present. Whenever we needed to go somewhere, a golf cart was ready within 10 minutes to take us around the resort, and the drivers, especially Omar, were extremely kind and accommodating. The food was amazing as well at all of the restaurants, and the romantic dinner we did had a fantastic meal. Grace, Esther, Samwel, Omar, Leyla, Anja the GM, and everyone else we met were ready to do everything they could to make our stay memorable and enjoyable and that is truly what made our stay so special. The Cave Spa was also well worth the money.
Ycona was a 10/10 experience with a beautiful resort and setting and I’m looking forward to coming back whenever I return to Zanzibar. "
"This hotel was absolutely amazing! The views were stunning, and there was always something going on. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but worth every penny. Everyone was so friendly, and I honestly wish I could’ve stayed longer.
Elijah showed us around and was incredibly nice—he gave me and my grandmother a full tour of the property and great recommendations for excursions. He even arranged to have a birthday gift sent to my room, which made my stay even more special.
The food was great, and the property had everything you could possibly need for a perfect vacation. I will definitely be coming back!"
"An absolute gem of a hotel! The building is absolutely beautiful and feels like it has been there forever, even in the new parts. The room was spotless, the bed incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. They filter their water so you can use the taps no problem to brush teeth but they provide lots of bottled water as well. The location is perfect for exploring Stone Town, which is very safe to walk around on your own. The views of the ocean from the hotel are endless. And the staff goes above and beyond - everyone is helpful, always smiling and wants to make sure your stay is perfect. Our only regret is we didn't spend an extra few nights here. "
"The room was beautiful and very clean. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was wonderful. And a great location for walking around Stone Town which was very safe. In all an excellent stay. "
"Initially we had some issues with our villa and with the condition of its balcony, which was due for refurbishment as the neighbouring villa was being worked on - so it wasn’t a great start, however the staff were attentive and sorted us out by relocating us a brand new private villa which in one word was WOW!
Everything else was excellent and would most certainly recommend."
"Breakfast was a buffet, fruit, cereal, pastries, eggs ect.. The coffee was Zanzibar coffee, we didn't care for it, strong and flavoured. The hotel was beautiful, old antique furniture, lots of style. Refreshing pool and sunset view from the top."
If you're looking for something a little different than the traditional hotel experience, a stay at a bed and breakfast could be the perfect alternative for your getaway.
