Flowing around the bend to the gorge.
Linville Falls. beginning in a twin set of upper falls, moving down a small gorge, and culminating in a high-volume 45-foot drop.
A must see.
It had been raining steadily for days near Linville Falls. Parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway were inaccessible, but the rains made for a spectacular view of the falls after a relatively short hike. This photo taken at 36mm, F/16.0, 6 sec. @ ISO 100.
Jonas Ridge. This panoramic photo was taken June 25th around 1:30 pm. This view is less than a mile hike from the entrance of the park (mile post 316). Though the hike is rated “difficult” the gorge is a pretty easy hike…I would brace yourself if you plan on hiking down to the basin. Though this area has lots of winter resorts, Linville Falls is a great place for free fun in the summer time. The river basin overflows with people enjoying a refreshing swim after a nice hike. Though the people here do not look the same and appear to be of varying ages, they all gather in the same “hang out spot”.
