Parkland and nature reserve near Monkton Village In the 1960/70s this area was known as "The Slaggy". Slag had been dumped here from the iron works and demolished buildings. There was a "crusher" that pulverised rocks and stone and was used as hard core. Now it's a very pleasant parkland area and looks much better than the old "Slaggy"
Jarrow, Tyne and Wear. The surviving wall of the west range of St Paul's Monastery, with St Paul's parish church beyond.
