The best Root in Istanbul

Excellent location. Steps from fun coffee shops, restaurants, shopping and the cruise-ship port. Artistic youthful decor. Espresso drinks located in the lobby. Several rooms in the lobby for socializing but there's a quiet library on site for writers to write their novels and scripts. LGBTQ travelers welcome. Excellent breakfast on the top floor with stunning views of Istanbul. Rooms larger than other hotels of similar price in the neighborhood. We opted for a room with a living room and bed room and it was worth it. We were in the back and it was quiet and peaceful with views of Galata Tower. There's an elevator and luggage storage. Early check-in and late check-out is available upon request. I've stayed at five other hotels in the neighborhood. This is the one I recommend. Location is excellent. Vibe and rooms are artistic and welcoming. Most New Yorkers, Californians and Europeans will be happy here. This hotel is also the official hotel of the renowned Istanbul Modern Museum (located a few feet away and well worth a visit). This hotel is hip, chic, youthful, fun, welcoming and supportive of all artists of all ages from every country. Don't hesitate. This is the place!

Immediately upon arrival, the toilet malfunctioned. I was there for three days and there was no fix. But what’s worse is they did not give me a discount. Disappointing. The breakfast was amazing. Room was great otherwise. Amazing location.

The room was clean and exact as you look in pictures, the description about how close are the galata Tower, and Istiklal square was not even close, (the description says 4 and 8 mins walking which it is not true, not even in car...) The lobby hotel and other spaces look exactly as pictured and considere them very pretty!! the front desk service considered mediocre, as tourist non turkish language knowledge, asked some help asking one of the guys to talk to a company by phone which we needed some info, and didn´t show any urge or act of interest in helping us. Also, we where kind of lost trying to get to the hotel (walking) cause we didn't have a sim card at the moment to ask for a grab or uber and it was impossible to get there walking with bags due to the wrong info in description about the walking distance time. so.. more less the place was more than great, but would not stay again because of the average service.

Good location and close to attractions and tram. The Wifi is very slow and almost not workable so I have to use my cell data to connect to the internet. Also the taxi the hotel booked for me overcharged me to the airport. When I booked the taxi the front desk told me the charge will be a flat rate at 750 Lira (about $26) but when the driver dropped me off at the airport he asked for $35. I had to catch the flight and had no choice but paid him money. that is not honest and the hotel should not hire the taxi company.

Great hotel in a good location in Karakoy, walkable to many dining spots and the Galata tower. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and modern - however, I would definitely pay a little bit extra and book a spacier standard room rather than the economy room (which is pretty much just a bed and bathroom). Lots of options for coffee and restaurants (though the famous dining area running parallel to the hotel street is almost entirely Turkish food...which is awesome, until you start craving variety after a few days). I do think the hotel is a bit too dimly lit, but that is the chosen vibe of the hotel. Finally, the woman working the front desk is very friendly and cute :)

Hotel was amazing freshly built right at the heart of the city, hotel is incredibly designed , I was really amazed with the design of lobby and rooms. Staff were very friendly and really helped us with everything. I highly recommend Root Karakoy hotel.
