"The property is centrally located and provides ease of access to many walks. There is a fully stocked supermarket nearby which provides foods and essentials and there are a number of good eateries within walking distance. The cottage is cosy and clean with all the facilities you could reasonably want. The kitchen is very well equipped. The hosts were very friendly and aoproachable. I heartily recommend this cottage for your restful break."

"Property was very nicely decorated with a cosy feel with contemporary fixtures and fittings.
Location was great - nice and rural, but close to Tideswell and Monsel Head.
In the couple of days we were there we visited Bakewell, Hathersage and walked Castleton and Mam Tor.
We love the area and would certainly stay here again. "

"This was basic accommodation with no frills. Ideal if you are just looking for something very basic to sleep and spending the evening in. Everything was clean and tidy on arrival. The kitchen had everything if you wanted to self cater for yourselves. The only person I spoke to during my stay was a stable hand. I never meet the owner. I would be happy to stay here in the future."

"Perfect property for a family gathering. Lots of space inside and for dining. Parking was great outside the back of the house for all three cars each day."

"In the national peak district park Buxton is lovely. Room was OK but decor starting to look a bit dated. Stayed here many times before but I think the new owners are neglecting it in favour of their new hotel on the crescent round the corner. Breakfast used to be table served cooked fresh and served by lovely elderly waitresses, but is now just a hot buffet style and the staff look as though they do not care about the guests. Strict about 11am checkout too. Would still stay here again though because this hotel has character."
"Check in was great lovely member of staff explained everything and about breakfast. The beds were comfortable, however the radiator was very old and the only heat source so it took us a long time to get warm and the shower the following day didnt work at all. We went to reception and he told us they have reset it and to have breakfast and try again. We did that and still not working so went back to reception, he told us the hot water had completely stopped working, no alternative offered but he was visibly stressed and told us he could not get hold of any managers to assist and didnt know what to do. The breakfast was ok good choice minus fried eggs which was disappointing. When it was coming up to 10am one of the kitchen staff were sighing as people were still coming in for breakfast. I didnt find the morning staff as professional as the evening staff. The room itself was ok but very standard and parking was not free but thats not a huge deal it was cheap parking. The hotel is closeby to the train station and to coop live so a great location. I would visit again if i had to but wouldnt be by choice unfortunately. "
"Whilst this once nust have been a high prestige hotel to stay at, it's decay is obvious. The wind howls through the corridors and rooms permanently as the floors are uneven and the windows are wonky, creating a permanent draft.
I specifically chose this place because it stated it had a gym, but upon arrival I learned that more than 60% of it was closed because of water damage, with buckets on the floor all over, an evil stink of humidity as water was dripping from the ceiling. Ridiculous they still informed me they also charge 6£ for a day pass, despite only some weights and a bike and pool/titsy tiny sauna were accessible. Why did they not inform me? I would've cancelled my booking and stay at the Leewood, which is fab and has a functioning clean gym. I'm really annoyed and tempted to ask money back.
There's no room service during the stay unless one explicitly asks for it. Flaky wifi also, making it a fail for my business trip.
Total disappointment! I'll discourage anyone from staying there. "
"5 minutes walk from Manchester Picadilly station. Perfect location for the city centre. Very handsome hotel. Dark & moody. Staff were especially warm and welcoming. Shout out to the breakfast waitstaff who could not have been more pleasant.
Criticisms?
Was surprised that the bar closed - even for guests - at 11pm for last orders.
Received several invitations prior to my arrival asking if I’d like to upgrade (at a cost ) which I thought was rather tacky. I’ve stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world and - in my opinion - upgrades should be given by the hotel in order to persuade the guest to return for future visits.
Other than these 2 minor points, I would recommend the Dakota to anyone who would like a stylish & comfortable hotel in the heart of Manchester.
