"My wife and I had a great pit stop at Rose and Crown. Very clean and well maintained property. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in after a long day's travel and sightseeing. The self-serve continental breakfast was equally good. Highly recommend!"

"A very comfortable stay in a lovely guesthouse, well situated in Castle Cary. The hosts gave a very warm welcome and we appreciated their local knowledge and tips. Breakfast was exceptional with a great variety fresh fruits and compotes, as well as homemade granola and pastries. All in all, one of the best stays we’ve had. Highly recommended."

"Friendly and helpful staff. We parked easily at the hotel and the receptionist ordered us a taxi. On our return we were shown to our rooms which were clean, bright and comfortable. The shuttle bus into Salisbury was a great idea and the driver was lovely. We had a drink in the hotel bar, again the staff were very helpful.
After a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed, breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. The hotel setting is beautiful too, sadly it was too cold and wet to sit on the terrace but it would be fantastic on a warm summers day."
"The bedroom was very comfortable and with a number of thoughtful touches. The food and drink was excellent in the lovely bar area. The service was top notch notch."

"Be aware the venue's also a wedding venue & wedding guests will take priority over your booking & your room will be downgraded if the management feel the need.
I booked an Executive Suite 2 weeks before my stay which should have been in the main building or Coach House, but 72-48 hours prior I was notified there'd be a wedding disco taking place in the Vendange Suite until 12am & that I may well end up in a room above it, which is exactly what happened.
We entered the room, number 253, at 6pm'ish to hear banging music from downstairs. We were completely disappointed with the room which was small & looked nothing like what I'd seen during booking.
We returned to reception asking to be moved or upgraded and although the staff were nice we were told there was nothing they could do as they were fully booked. They checked if their sister hotel could accommodate us but unfortunately not.
I expressed I'll try to find another hotel. There was no attempt to remedy the situation by reception or the manager who was present.
I then spent 2 hours on and off the phone with Expedia who began negotiations with the hotel. There must have been some misunderstanding as I was called by reception saying if I want a refund then I must vacate the room. I was shocked at this response.
A second attempt with Expedia saw us offered a £25 refund by the hotel, not great.
Small TV, with broken remote that you had to get out of bed to use wha buttons did work. I went downtown for diner to avoid the music."
"Simply cannot say enough good things about the George and the staff there!
A wonderful old building so there are some oddly shaped corridors as you'd expect but they only add charm to what is already a fabulous location and venue.
The room was clean, comfortable and I felt right at home the moment I got there. All the facilities you can expect in a hotel room. Bed was comfy, sheets were clean. The bathroom was clean and well put together given the limited space available.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious and there was no shortage of options to suit everyone. I had the eggs benedict and felt set up and ready for the day ahead.
But most of all the staff were exceptional. All were friendly, helpful and really easy to approach with queries. In particular they went out of their way to help me, nothing was too much trouble.
Would recommend this place to anyone and would be happy to come again!"
"Firstly I would not recommend this place to stay to anyone.
On the plus side the room was clean but any so called amenities were pretty basic for what was described as 4 star.
To be told on arrival by the manager/chef/barman/probably everything this as he seemed to be the only person on the premises, that there was no food due to no delivery was a bit of a blow. Then be told that an English breakfast was going to be an additional £8 per head also didn't go down well. We were informed that breakfast was between 8-10.
Thankfully we were only staying the one night, as in the morning no breakfast appeared infact nobody in the place seemed to be around.
My wife and I began to think apart from others who were staying noone
else was in the property, infact I had to unlock the front entrance first thing. We ended up leaving our room keys on the bar and left.
Clearly the place is being run if you can say run on a shoe string.
Unless some serious organisation/work on the place is carried out ASAP
then closure is inevitable, which would be a great shame for a lovely building."
"Staff were friendly and helpful, accommodation was clean, room was lovely. Parking is ample although there is a charge per day that isn’t clear on their website although I expect it is relative to the excellent central location. We would definitely stay here again."
