"This has to be one of the best hidden gems in Norway. The views are absolutely stunning, with a beautiful waterfall lookout and rooftop terrace. The hotel itself has a wonderful “old feel”. It is dated, but oozing history and well maintained. The rooms were very comfortable and very large, we easily fit our family of 4 in one of the family rooms. The breakfast was excellent and you could enjoy your coffee with magnificent views. Would highly recommend this place, especially for the views...

"Highly recommend - it was the most beautiful place we stayed at during our Norway visit. Our property was right on the Oppstrynsvatnet lake. The house was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and had all amenities - full kitchen, dining, iron, hair dryer. The house also had an in-house sauna in addition to a Panaroma sauna on the property. "Cruise ships were parked in front of hotel most of the time. So instead of seeing the fjords, you see a cruise ship. The ship left at 9pm but another was back at 630 am. Difficult to find where to check in. When asking employees where to check in they snapped “reception “ and were very annoyed I didn’t know where that was. There is no place to park when checking in. Expedia says there is parking. There is not. You need to go find a paying space. There is only 1 way to enter the...

"Driving into Hjelle through the lakeside tunnel was magical. This repurposed schoolhouse was a fantastic place to experience old-world Norwegian living. Loved the nook beds and touches of history. The modern bath and kitchen were integrated well. The property manager was kind and helpful - he let us know when the early snowfall unexpectedly closed down the mountain pass. Was a great site to just relax and enjoy!"
